Question about 1997 Lexus LS 400

1 Answer

1997 Lexus LS 400 --Fan blower not getting voltage or signal from heater relay. (actually module and fan not seeing voltage). Without a scan tool, I cant read the computers' would be sine wave. Ive removed fan and checked its operation by simply putting 12 volts to it. It runs great. Last link in the chain is supposed to be the heater relay. Any ideas, or experience w/same...Please advise....Theroad

avid 101, Fan BLOWER, not the cooling fan. My problem is in the cabin air system. This car utilizes a electronic module fed by a 50a fusible link>Heater relay>Module>fan. Ive replaced the module, though, due to owners budget, It is a used part. The fan runs when connected directly to battery. Im mystified on this one, and limited by available reference material. Lexus is almost over-engineered, and just complicates the issue. I am a mechanic and help others here on fixya as well. Just putting a note out to other mechanic's who may have more Lexus cars under their' belt than I do (which is practically none) Thanks for your time and thoughts....it is appreciated!

Take it to schucks or autozone being careful of not over heating it and have then do a scan of the computer, however I don't think the computer would turn on the fan but a temprature sensor would and the signal from the temprature sensor would activate the fan relay. some sensors are on the radiator and others are on the block by the thermostat and some have two, one for the temp gauge and 02 sensor, and one to operate the fan itself. Now if the radiator was low on water it would cause it not to function, have you check it? not the overflow tank but the radiator itself?

Change the fan resistor it should be located under dash near the glove box ther's a rectangular electrical plug going to it it should be located somewhere on the heater box. These usually go bad because of the constant condensation and temp. changes present.

The 10 amp fuse that goes to the turn signals and heater fan keeps blowing on my 1997 dodge caravan

That fuse circuit goes hot with the key on, shouldn't have voltage before you turn the key on. The fuse circuit sends voltage to several circuits, one of which is the front blower relay. Unplug the relay, see if fuse still blows? If you need to enlarge diagram, sometimes you can click on your highlited post, on that page you may be able to enlarge diagram.

Heater fan runs when heater is off.06 ford expoler

Automatic or manual climate control ?
  • The blower motor does not operate correctly - manual climate control
  • Circuitry short
  • A/C blower motor resistor
  • A/C blower motor switch
  • Blower motor high speed relay
  • Go To Pinpoint Test O .

  • The blower motor does not operate correctly - EATC
  • Circuitry short/open
  • A/C blower motor speed control
  • EATC module
  • Go To Pinpoint Test Q .

Pinpoint Test Q: The Blower Motor Does Not Operate Correctly - EATC
Normal Operation Under normal operation, the blower motor control module receives a 1-2 volt signal from the EATC module through circuit CH218 (GN/VT) to determine the desired blower motor speed. The EATC module receives a feedback voltage from the blower motor control module through circuit VH219 (GY) to determine actual blower motor speed. When the highest blower motor setting is selected, the EATC module sends 12 volts to the blower control module through circuit CH217 (BN).
    Possible Causes
  • An open, short to voltage, ground or together in circuits CH218 (GN/VT), VH219 (GY) or circuit CH217 (BN)
  • Blower motor control module
  • EATC module
  • If automatic HVAC system i would suspect Blower motor control module .

My lexus ls400 1991 the two electri fan all time is on

Either the temperature sensor on the radiator, or the relay is bad.
Pull a wire off the temperature sensor on the radiator.
If it stops the fans, then the sensor is bad and the relay ok.

1997 Dodge ram 2500 deisel. Blower fan wont come on. replaced climate control module and fuse is ok. Is there an inline fuse or relay I'm missing?

if the fuse is ok your next step is to see if you have power at the heater fan switch,if you do then the next thing is the heater blower motor resister it is under the heater assembly, that is what gives you different speeds,
the last is test for power at blower motor to see if it is faulty

1998 Lexus LS400 has no blower

You need to just keep changing fuses until you find the right one. Bypass the old relays with a paper clip in the fuse panel with a paper clip and pliers in the in and out. When they come on you know the problem is the fuse or relay.
