Question about 2003 Kia Rio

3 Answers

2003 Kia Rio check engine light keeps coming on, retrieved codes gave laundry list of possibilities (bad plug, bad plug wires, bad coil, possible bad #1 cylinder). I have already replaced the plugs, wires and coil, however problem still persists.

You could have a dirty fuel injector or a leaking intake.

I'm guessing it was a misfire code. Lack of fuel will also cause a misfire code too, were you aware of that?

Camshaft sensor for 2003 Kia Rio causes check engine light

I would guess a wiring issue. Check all the cabling and make sure all connectors are nice and snug with no signs of corrosion or burnt.

P0355....Ignition Coil E Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction would suggest you need to replace your coil packs. Heat damages them after time and will eventually lead to misfire and very rough running motor especially when it's damp out.

P0700....Transmission Control System Malfunction

I would start researching the possibility of a bad ground, a loose main cable to the battery, etc. If the codes come back, the P0700 can be very serious and could require attention at a Transmission shop or dealership. There is a remote possibility that the codes are entirely unrelated.

P0304 code is a cylinder 4 misfire. If the plugs or wires are bad it will cause a decrease in power. I suggest changing the plugs and wires and see if that helps.
