2002 GMC 2500 6.0 Sierra runs hot with trailer or hill. 2 different fan clutches, new water pump, new thermostat, new coolant, belt has plenty of tension, radiator fins are clean, and hoses seem firm.

Just a thought. I replaced quit a few heater cores over the winter. Clogged up. The one thing I noticed they all had in common was the orange coolant. It leaves residue, Brown slime. Noticed it in the reservoirs first, then tore a couple cores apart and they were clogged from the same residue. I quit using the orange. went to the green global.

2004 Chrysler pacifica has milky brown liquid in the reservoir and the oil stick looks good. None on the stick and just change the radiator.

The milky brown liquid floating at the top of your coolant reservoir is almost certainly OIL. This is usually a first indication of a head gasket issue, especially if your vehicle has recently overheated.

IT'S your antifreeze it dosn't last for ever.
A Lincolin has a vary large block and cooling system .
Yours is an 98 thats means its 17 years old..
It might be time to flush this system check the raditaor and heater core water pump ECT .

1997 Buick park ave why is my coolant brown

It should be orange if it Dexcool. Which all aluminum head GM engines switched too. If typical (green) antifreeze is added to dexcool, it goes thru a reaction that will not let it flow thru the cooling system fast enough or properly which causes hot spots in the block and burns (cooks) the antifreeze. have the system flushed and refilled with the correct coolant and you engine will love ya for it

Check your heater core. I had a 98 saturn that did the same thing and didnt realize what it was until my heater didnt seem to be as hot. Should be under the dash most likely toward passenger side. Look in a repair book to be sure.

92 pontiac transport montana missing and brown gunk in antifreeze overflow. just had heater core replaced a few days ago. possible cause? dont want to get taken by mechanics. $1200 in

Are we talking about two different problems ??
The miss could be a plug or wire or injector - even a compression problem.
The dirty coolant could be built up over several years.
And yes it could be a faulty head or intake gasket.

My coolant is brown in the radiator and coolant tank

time to change the radiator fluid also flush out the system good the brown stuff is surface rust no big deal just have it flushed or do it yourself. make sure you have the proper coolent these days there are 2 main typs of coolent, to put it simply the green stuff and the orange stuff. my chevy truck takes the orange stuff. now you could be seeing old orange stuff and it may look brown to you so make sure you replace it with the correct fluid because they dont mix and you will do damage to your car. also if you find out you have orange coolent in your car you CANNOT MIX THIS WITH WATER.. it will also damage your car..if you have orange and decide to flush out the radiator it might be a good idea to have it done at a shop.. they will know how to do it correctly. if it takes green fluid its simple to flush and repalce it yourself because you CAN MIX WITH WATER. i hope this helps...

What is the small plastic container in the engine compartment on the driver side used for?. What liquid is used to fill it?

It could be either engine coolant or windscreen washer water. If it has green or red water in it it will be the coolant. If it is clear it will be washer water . It could also be the power steering resivoir which will have red to brown light oil in it. This is topped up to the full line when the car is hot.

Brown liquid on floor of cab

About the only liquid that passes through the passenger compartment is coolant through the heater core so that item may have developed a leak. If it is brown, the coolant may be way overdue for a flush and a change. You might sniff the liquid to see if you find any trace of coolant odor.
