4wd light on and locker switch flashing

The 4wd light is on in my powerwagon and the locker swithch flashes. The lockers wont engage or work anymore. My 3/36 warrenty just ran out. This started last summer and the truck only had 26k miles on it and my factory warrenty ran out by only one week and dodge/chrysler would not cover it. The truck now has 31k on it. I couldn't believe they would not honor the warrenty. I guess they really don't care. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong??? thanks

I have a 1006 Quad Cab, and had similar problem... The Front actuator for the front drive shaft went bad...at 35,700 miles on the truck. Not sure how muck part is, but looks like it might be an easy fix with removing several bolts, and pluging in wires

Sounds like the drivetrain is in a bind, this happens a lot when the truck is not used in 4wd very often but this should fix it. On a small incline with no traffic turn locker switch to 2wd and let truck slowly coast backward while in neutral and turning the steering slightly from side to side. You will hear and feel a thump when your front driveshaft disengauges and your 2wd light comes on.

put car in 2wd, but one rear tire on ICE or wet grass
then move forward quick. (gas pedal

if both tires spin car moves is Positration clutch packed rear gear set.(or lockers of many kinds)
if limited slip 4 gears only then one tire on grass /ice only spins fast and car does not.
there answered all 4 ways.

ok way #5, rear tires off ground both, ON JACKS STAnds safe.
in neutral 4wd box or. if not 4wd tranny in neutral.
hand spin 1 tire and both turn same direction for locker.
if it 1 spins backwards the axle is open (limited slip)
open is 4 gears (side+ spider)
Lockers have a locker or clutch pack just like seen in the A./T BOX.

lockers have vast names. but all lock up some way.
open axles means sans/locks.
I love lockers. saved my bacon vast times. even pulling super heavy boats out of the ramp, and zero slip. 2 tires spin is JOY.
even 2wd drive with a locker is a joy. on snow and ice too.

Have 2003 f150 4wd light on but will not lock in

IF you have both front wheels in the air then either wheel will spin freely unless you have diff lock or limited slip diff. That is the nature of a diff..wd means that all 4 wheels drive but only when you have a limited slip diff or a diff locker. in action . If you have both of one side wheels in a bog you will not go any where.

Depending on the make and model, it could be the control switch on the dash or the switch that moves the gears in the transfer case.

My 2008 Dodge 1500 5.7 auto, front axle wont engage, the transfer case engages

is the shaft from the transfer case to the front axle spinning? Check to see that your locker solenoid is still plugged in there's a plug on the drivers side rear of the engine about 10 inches from the starter that's the plug to the locker solenoid. If its plugged and your front drive shaft from the transfer case spins your locker solenoid is likely bad.

No power to rear diff lock on 80 series landcruiser

The rear locker will only operate when the centre diff lock is engaged (amber light on dash) and your speed is below approx. 5mph.

If the rear locker indicator does not illuminate, check the 10-amp "Gauge" fuse in the internal fuse panel.

If the light flashes but doesn't become steady, this is probably a siezed / jammed rear locker. On soft ground, repeatedly turn the locker on and off while driving in gentle circles to see if that frees it up. Also, tapping the actuator while an assistant operates the locker can help free it up.

Front axle does not engage when I shift into 4wd

It sounds like maybe your auto lockers in your front wheel hubs are not locking. You may be able to get them to lock if while in 4x4 you jab your brake pedal several times, sometimes this will work to get them to engage but even if this works I would advise that you either invest in a good set of manual locking hubs or replace the ones you have with new auto lockers. The auto locking 4x4 hubs are great when they work but when they don't they are not serviceable. The manual lockers are allot less likely to fail on you in the future.
