When vehicle is not running for some time like over night coolant leaks into combustion chamber. When you start vehicle it burns off. This is why the smoke is gone in a short time.
check the solenoid on the starter sometimes you can take them
apart and clean and grease it and the starter apart and clean the windings make sure the bearings are good if hard to turn replace them etc
You are equipt with a ignition control module, located near the A/C pump when this fails the vehicle stays running and wont accelerate, but will stay at idle,
The fact that this issue began after you changed the air filter and that it idles higher than it used to sounds like you accidentally knocked off a vacuum line while changing the filter. Look around for any hoses or small rubber lines and connectors that are no longer attached.
hello, i hope this is just a vehicle security issue! try (out of vehicle) , locking and unlocking driver door with key, get in and try to start, ........will any other lights or instruments turn on?
Hi! I can only give a suggestion as to slow starting, The starter motor windings have probably been cooked? so when cold seem o.k. but at operating temp expand and the armature receives less power. Have you recently tried starting from cold with a poor battery? if so this is the reason, volts go down Amps go up stewing the windings in the starter motor. Misfire could be due to condensation? is the vehicle Garaged?
Hope this helps!
