This sounds like your transmission is slipping. When it slips you will lose power when it catches back that's when you get the ****. Hope this helps.

What causes my car ****. could that be my fuel pump

If the jerking happens under load (accelerating on the highway, going up a hill), it could be your fuel pump, but more likely your fuel FILTER.
If the jerking happens at higher RPM, it is more likely a misfire from a bad spark plug wire, fouled spark plug, or bad coil pack,
If you notice a smell of raw fuel when the vehicle is idling, make sure that your air filter is clean.
If the "Check Engine" light is on, have a local auto parts store connect an ODB sensor to determine what code is being generated.

could have bad ignition coil or fuel filter in fuel tank need replacing could have lean fuel misfire caused by clogged fuel filter or dirty fuel injectors.make sure using correct spark plugs and have plugs gap correct.

My 1998 KJ Ford Laser drives fine but after you drive approx 15km's it starts to lose power badly

If this happens each time you drive it, check the fuel filter. It may be almost clogged and slow the fuel delivery. A other place to look would be the spark plug and coil wires. ( not sure what type to system your Laser would have.) The resistance in the Laser's plug and coil wires can increase as it warms up when it is driven. If the wires are over 5 years old they should be replaced.

Driving down the road and all of a sudden the van starts jerking like its having trouble getting gas and then when i turn into a parking spot or onto another road the cars dies and i have no power steering

It could be either a bad fuel system or a bad spark system....
Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, fuel regulator, spark plugs, ignition coil, distributor cap, etc....

Jerking and losing power

Probably bad ignition system which can be anything from a failing coil pack, ignition wires or cracked spark plugs. Look closely for signs of missing by looking for cracks in plugs, bad plug wires or a white/green crusty chalk build up on the coil

Jerking bad when driving replaced coil lead plugs ok coil lead sparking outside coil

Is it sparking between boots or is it from the boot to the engine? You need to use dielectric grease on the boot on the coil to stop leakage of voltage between coil towers, I can't find the 2006 laser so chose a model similar to that model. With the engine off and you pull the spark plug wires put a little bit of the special grease on your finger and put it on the inside of the boot of the spark plug wire at the coil and at the spark plug. Be sure to not get any on the spark plug metal tip or on the metal on the coil pack. When removing the spark plug wire from the coil and plug be sure to twist it with the engine being cold so that you don’t ruin the spark plug wires. This should stop the leakage, if not then you have a defective coil/ coil pack and need to see if there is a carbon track or a crack in the coil assembly itself, let me know if this helps and get back to me if you need more assistance.

I have just had a maf sensor and throttle body put on my suzuki vitara 1997 2ltr petrol v6 engine as I had trouble with it jerking while driving. It still wont run properly it has no power to go up...

No power when going up hill could be a plugged catalytic converter or fuel filter. A bad ignition control module will act up when the engine gets hot and not energize the coils so they can provide spark to the spark plugs. There could also be a bad coil. The ticking could be a bad coil or spark plug wire that is shorting and arcing. If you take a spray bottle with some water and lightly mist the coils and spark plug wires with the engine running in the dark (outside at night) you will see the arcing. Autozone will test your ignition control module and coils for free.

2002 Honda Accord. Engine does slow start and jerks

sounds like you have a problem with the spark the coil may be on its way out or there may be oil in the spark plug holls shorting out the spark.
your best bet is to pull the leads out 1 at a time and and look down and check for oil if there is oil there get a new rocker cover gasket.
if no oil refit plug leads loosely and start the car remove one lead at a time slowly and look at the spark cumming out the end off the lead is it blue? if so it is ok if it is yellow and dull you have a coil problem. also check that the spark is only comming out the end of the lead as it may be comming ou the side of the lead and shorting to earth,
you can do this by slowly moving the lead around the top of the sparkl plug holl and see were the spark is comming from

be carfull no to shock your self as it herts like hell

good luck

My 1995 Dodge Intrepid jerks and bucks when you drive it. When you let off the gas it drives fine. We have changed the fuel pump and fuel filter. It is still doing it. What could it possibly be?

Finally, fixed the problem. After testing the car with the fuel pressure gage, I found out that the car had proper pressure 46 with regulator and 55 without. After that tested all the voltages on the sensors. They checked fine so I disconnected the spark plugs while running (be careful not to get shocked, it happened to me a couple of times). Found that plug 3 and 6 not getting spark. So i checked the coil. With the car still running I pulled off the wireset at the coil one by one. All checked good except plug 3. That told me that I was not getting any spark from the coil for spark plug 3. I decided to change the coil. However. I also decided to change the wireset because plug 6 wasn't sparking at the plug. After changing coil and wireset, the car is running like a champ. Wish I would have checked it in the first place. It would have save me about $500. I changed out the fuel pump $300. I bought a new fuel filter $10.00. I bought 2 new O2 sensors $100.00 and also I bought a new fuel pressure gage $50.00. Lastly, new coil and wireset $90.00. The car is running like new now. I think better than we we first recieved it. At least I know the fuel pump, O2 sensors are good and now I have a new tool (looking at the positive side). Plus the car is finally fix and running great!!
