Check the fuel line from the tank to the pump if it is steel it could be rusted thru if it is rubber it might be dry rotted or cracked and sucking air instead of fuel.

Check to ensure fuel pump fuse hasn't burned out. Try spraying starting fluid directly into the throttle body to see if it tries to catch.

83 f250 with 460. will start and idle for 5-10

What a great truck I've had two, one I drove around in mexico for 6 months. You need to change the fuel filter. It is located under the truck on the fuel line coming from tank about even with the seat. You need a wrench set. Make sure you have the arrow on the new filter going the proper way, toward the motor. Good luck, thats a tough truck

Car sat for a year - now the fuel pump won't work

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. You could try rapping on the tank first. As far as the fuel filter goes.look on the passenger side below the rear door it is located there it has two clips holding the fuel lines on pry them back with a flat tip screw driver put new filter on and replace the clips should take all of 10 minutes

Was there any gas in the car before you added 5 gallons? If there was, it is the problem. The gas goes bad, especially if left in the car unused that long. The system will need to be flushed out (lines, tank, carb/or injectors cleaned.
Also, carefully inspect the entire brake system, as flex. rubber lines can dry rot, steel lines may be rusty (if rust was present when parked, even though the garage is dry). You will probably need to disassemble the calipers and brake cylinders, clean them, and flush the system out. Your tires probably need to be replaced also, as they may fail under high temp conditions (dry rot). I have stored cars over the years, not always in the best conditions, and the worst thing for a car is to have it sit unused.
