SOURCE: 2006 Mercury Mariner V6 4WD. Sporadic stalling when stopping
One of the most common causes of stalling like that but not showing any fault codes on many types of vehicles is the IAC valve, or IAC motor. (same thing) It's mounted on the side of the throttle body near front opening and it controls engine idle under load conditions such as applying brakes, turning wheel, AC on, basically anything you use in vehicle that puts any load on the engine, which will make RPM's drop at idle, that valve, steps it up to where it should be to eliminate that. I'd remove it, get a can of throttle body spray cleaner, and clean pintle (pointed part) and the port (hole) it came out of real good, then re-install it & see if problem goes away. If it goes away, then returns before too long, replace it with a new one.
