50psi on the low side is a little high. Sounds like the system is overcharged by about 10-15psi. Overcharging a system will cause a lack of performance just as much as undercharging with one exception, overcharging can damage the compressor. The compressor will engage with as little as 20psi although there's no 1 benchmark for all engines, 40-45psi is considered a full charge. Hope this answers your question.

The condensor (or dryer) needs to be replaced if its older and especially if the compressor has not worked is several months or more..
As a matter of fact - allot of the time whn you buy a compressor they will not waranty it unless you buy a dryer too..
Also - be sure the compressor is getting power..

Rate well ;o)

2003 yukon xl front a/c not blowing cold air.back working just fine. added r 134 last week ,with low side pressure of 70 psi, high side at 275 psi.what could be the problem

{: ) Try to feel the the a/c accumulator for coldness. It is that metallic can mounted near the firewall, connected along the a/c suction pipe. Actually, 70 psi is still somewhat high. But anyway, if the accumulator is cold to touch, most probably the problem is on the front air distribution. Assuming that your front blower is working, the cold air could have been distributed elsewhere, to the other vents instead of the front vents.
It can be an actuator or an air vent door fault. There are also GM bulletins for this kind of concern like connector, wiring, or calibration issues. Depending on the retrieved codes by a scan tool, it can help narrow down the search and the cause, and eventually speed up the repairs. So goodluck.

Where is the ac lowside port located on a 2005 gmc savanna van

The low side port of the 2005 GMC savanna Van is located on the low pressure side of the compressor.

This is found by locating the compressor driven by a belt that has a clutch that engages and disengages as the a/c cycles.

The low pressure piping is always in the larger diameter piping, and the high pressure side is always contained in the smaller diameter piping.

Therefore, follow the thick pipes from the compressor up to the accumulator, which looks like a large can of soup. On the accumulator receiver/drier is a port that connects to the tube that is connected to the can of r134a freon refrigerant.

Simply quick connect the tube to the low side port, which is located on the 'thick' tubing or on the accumulator and then fill until the low side pressure is 25 psi to 45 psi while the compressor is running.

When the car is off and the compressor is not running, the pressure should be 75 psi to 100 psi on a hot day.

Hopefully the system doesn't have a leak slow or fast in it.

1999 gmc Jimmy only Blows hot air. Diverter actuator is moving and working. Even when compressor starts all pipes are hot. Check 134A and was low. When put in less than a can the compressor would cycle on...

When recharging the ac you need to recover the old refridgerent. That means you have to take out all the old 134 and replace with new 134. On the engine sticker under the hood should tell you how many pounds of 134 it takes. When put in the 134 make sure your ac is on high.

My ac compressor on my 95 audi 90 turns on and off continually, and does not blow cold. does it just need a recharge, or could it be more?

How may miles is on the car?

Get an AC LOW SIDE psi garage and check on the LOW SIDE hose PSI.

MAKE SURE IT"S LOW SIDE.

High side can shoot up to 140 +++ PSI

BE CARE REAL CAREFUL

If it has 45+ PSI then do a charge with the auto part store R-134A kit.

If it's below 45 psi then you has a slow leak. Fill up will be last only hours or weeks.

Fix it right and be good to our environment.

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy & there's no power going to my low pressure switch which is located on the accumulator. I ran a hot wire from the battery to the ac compressor, filled the system with 1.8lbs of...

Running a hot wire bypasses any compressor cycling. Low side should pull down to 20 psi or less when compressor is hot wired. If not pulling down you may have weak compressor or way to much freon in system.
