My fan on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was only running on high speed. Replaced the resistor, and now its and intermittent problem. Sometimes all speeds work, sometimes only the high speed works. What now?

Checking the connector at the resistor with the unit turned on you'll find your problem, replug it in with the unit running on any thing but high and you'll see whats going on. the plug might be burned up and making a poor connection just replugging them many times fixes most of them and you can get a new plug if nessary. if it's burned up it's likly that the blower motor needs to be replaced as it's drawing too much power and it's common as the motors get older that they need to be replaced..

What does the fan acutator switch look like?

I'm assuming you mean the radiator fan relay. Its approx 2" square and lives behind and below the right headlamp. Its also under the plastic housing so you can either take the nose apart or gain access with a holesaw or ? Maybe you'll be lucky and someone was already there. Its held in by 2 8mm screws. The headlamp comes out by taking the two vertical screws out and then prying out the headlamp assembly.

2005 jeep cherokee, no heat, just blows cold air, thermostat ok

Assuming the water is getting hot, (you could touch the hoses to make sure), then it is the controls, the vacuum the controls use, the vacuum servo that operates the valve, or the valve itself.
It is easiest to start with the last, because you can watch it move from the engine compartment, as someone else turns the temp switch high and low.

Air/fan/heat only works on high in 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, or it will start again if I open and slam shut my glove compartment.

Check the blower motor speed dropping resistor pack and it's connections. It is located in the ducting airflow of the blower motor.

Fan speed control only powers HVAC blower on high 2005 Jeep Chero

Not usually too difficult, but once you locate it, you'll see. Some are under hood at firewall on passenger side area, and some are right on the housing under dash on passenger side, usually close to blower motor connection.

Heat/AC Blower fan speed only works on High

Alot of people have the same problem with the fan switch and blown bulbs. There really is no fix for this. Jeep really screwed up when designing the heater control assembly. The cheapest solution is to buy another unit off Ebay. Can always go to the dealer but be ready to PAY for there mistakes.
