Question about Ford Mustang

1 Answer

On the way home from work tonight I occasionally saw a red indicator light come on on my intrument panel that said "brake." The braking action was fine and as good as ever. No grinding. No nothing. I checked the reservoir when I got home and it was a little low, but not horribly low. What was my sweetheart trying to tell me? I will have the brakes checked, but I wanted to know if I have already corrected the problem by adding fluid.

On most cars, if the brake fluid level is low, this might be an indications that brake pads are worn out. Another possibility, there might be a leak in the brake system.

Either way, if this happens frequently, have your car inspected as soon as possible, in some cases a car may be unsafe to drive.

You must have the system scanned with a special scan tool to see what ABS fault codes are present and then based on those codes diagnose the problem.

Light for brake on

The red brake light is a visual indicator of what could be any of a number of problems with your brake system. Even though the service brake action feels OK, you should have system checked to determibe the cause of the indication and correct the problem(s)

"!" Indicator light on 2008 Chev Trailblazer

If the ! symbol you saw is inside a circle enclosed in parentheses like (O), and usually red in color, that's for your brake fluid. Check it out, maybe its low on fluid. If it is, check for fluid leaks or worn brakepads. Usually the ! symbol coincides with the P symbol and also red in color. When the park brake is engaged, both these symbols appear together. If you release the park brake, both indicators should turn off under normal conditions, otherwise either of the two or both will stay on when there is insufficient fluid or there's a parking brake circuit fault. Brakes are very important, so give proper attention and solution if ever these indicators lightb up when they shoud not.
If the ! symbol is very bold and inside a half drawn flat tire, and yellow in color, thats the tire pressure monitor indicator. Check and balance all four tire pressures to the correct specification.
Okay, sir? have a safe trip. : )

04 Corolla "BRAKE" light on dash--comes on occasionally??

I wouldn't drive it... when your brake light comes on, it means there's a serious fault with your brakes. They may not engage when you brake and there won't be any further warning other than the brake light

Brake indicator warning light for a 1993 buick century

Check to see that the emergency brake isn't engaged. This happened to me a couple weeks ago after I did some work on the dash and had to barely depress the pedal. Also verify your brake fluid is ok.
Hope this helps!

Brake lights not working when you apply brakes

check the brake light switch.
It's usually up under the dash, and it activated by the brake pedal.

There are 2 wires going to it. To test it, jumper across the leads.
or, watch the "action" sometimes you just need to reposition the switch to get it to work.
