SOURCE: There is no air flow

You need part GM Part number 89018675 or ACDelco 15-73596. The Mode Selector Actuator. What happens is the part is a CHEAP part POORLY designed and when it goes to turn the flaps inside the HVAC unit its the plastic gear slips instead of turning the flap!!!

Just to forward you you might want a deal to install this art for you unless your good at fixing your own vehicle, because you need SMALL sockets and a lot of patience to get this part in!!!

The part is ALMOST directly above the steering shaft for your steering wheel, so theres a lot you got to remove before you will even see them!!!

I only recommend you to have a dealer put this part in for you, unless you have your own service manual!!

Because there is 5 of these darn things and if you pick the wrong one you will have to do it all over again!!!

3 on the Drivers side and 2 on the Passengers side!!

But replacing this part SHOULD solve all your problems!! AS it did for me and i was having the same issues as you have described!!

SOURCE: a/c problem

You either have a bad control, or motor running the air direction door in the front HVAC unit, or a door that is stuck.

The front and rear units are totally separate.

The door directs where the air, cold or hot, should come out, whether it is panel vents, floor, defrost, or any combination of those.

This door and motor are located inside the heater box which usually requires a lot of the vehicle dash assembly to be taken apart to get to these parts.

SOURCE: PROBLEM WHEN SELECTING THE DIRECTION FOR THE AIR

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Explorer. A/c blows cold, but not from front of vents

I have the 03 Expy with continuous rear air unit "clicking" or more accurately flapping of the air damper while the plastic gears in the 2L2H-19E616-AA grind away into toothlessness. Ford designed this unit to find the end of travel by jamming the motor to a stop and monitoring the current to determine when to stop applying voltage. That would probably be fine if the gears were designed to handle the jammed torque or the motor did not slip out of groove and continue turning and cracking the plastic gears.

There are two white colored boxes, one is for the temp plenum door, the other the upper/lower air flow. To be sure, do what I did, turn on the ignition, rear ac/heat and listen for the obnoxious click/thump as you move the temp control from full heat to full cool, you will know which part. Disconnect the electrical connector, four bolts and it is out!

Go to your dealer, part should be about $60 or less, look on line, lots of dealers sell for this or less on internet.

My 2005 monte carlo heater blows cold air from drivers vents and warm air form passenger vents but it fluctuates as I drive. Sometimes though it works fine and blows normal hot air like it should.

Those engines are well known to lose cabin heat do to low coolant , and air trapped in upper cooling system will stop flow to heater core . I would check that first . If not that , the vacuumed controed vent flaps under the dash are not working properly maybe becauss of a vacuumed leak or electrical problem .

My 2004 mitsubishi galant isnt blowing cold or hot air.

If it has a cabin air filter the filter could be blocked.
It could also have a stuck or faulty blend door that directs air flow thru the HVAC box.

Ac is blowing out of defrosterandnot panels in the dash. Air is cool cold air will blow out of rear seat panel/vent 1998 ford explored

The most common cause is a bad blend door actuator which controls air flow throughout the cabin. When air flow only flows from 1 section (either floor, vent, or defrost) it's an indication that the blend door actuator is either stuck or broken.

2005 focus blows cold air then will stop and nornal air comes turn off car leave for awhile and it does same thing when restarted starts cold then stops cheers steve

your cabin air filter is probably clogged up, that can cause the ac to actually freeze up and wont feel cold until the car stops and thaws out. replace your cabin filter and see if it doesnt help. ehow.com has a good step by step for the process.

I have a 2004 Buick Century. Over the weekend I seemed to have lost the oomph on my air flow, I checked the filter for the cabin air. Took it out and ran the system but still no help. The A/C works fine...

Feel, and make sure there is no air coming from the floor,or the defrost,if not, then the directional door is working, but if not, there will be a actuator motor that controls this not moving all the way,the other choice would be that the evaporator is stopped up with debris, from outside air flow.Of course the dash and blower box would have to be removed to repair the problem.

Heat in a Econoline 150 just stopped. Blows out cold air. Dont have fuse diagram where do I find one

I'm not sure your problem is a blown fuse. If the blower motor is running and pushing out air, then it's working normally. First check would be the thermostat, let the engine warm up and feel the radiator hoses. If 1 hose gets hot and the other is cold, most likely you have a bad thermostat. If thats ok, make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks, as most of the blend air doors that allow heat into the van are vacuum operated. It doesnt take much of a vacuum leak to lose your heat. Finally, make sure the control cables behind the head unit are in place and not kinked or broken.
