Question about 1991 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Potential transmission problem

I had my transmission rebuit in January of 2009. The problems I had were that the green Sport light would come on all the time. When the light came on I couldn't drive or it wouldn't go over a certain mileage. My gears would not move and it feels like the car is in low gear, the engine is tacked up real high. Could it be my transmission?

There is a switch on the shift lever. When you push it it puts the transmission in sport mode and illuminates this light. http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/?wpfb_dl=1924

THE SPORT LIGHT IS BLINKING ON MY DASH BOARD

If transmission is working ok then the problem is the TCM or transmission control module, these are known to go bad, although they dont affect the performance of the transmission (usually) they just will produce that annoying flashing green light. Hope this helps.

The green (S) Light on the instrument panel comes on (and remains on). What is that for? What is the solution, if any? Thanks

this indicates the transmission is operating in "sport" mode. there is a switch to the rear of the transmission shift lever on the center console. depress the switch to take the transmission out of sport mode and the "s" on the dash will disappear. Press again it will reappear. Sport mode will operate the transmission in a sportier feeling shift pattern and will use more fuel. The switch is labeled "mode". It frequently gets depressed when I lay things in the console.
