SOURCE: 2001 dodge durango v8 5.9 trans won't shift unless i downshift

I have a 2000, there is a speed sensor located in top of the rear axel and I believe another on the tranny housing. Try the rear axel first.

SOURCE: od/off trans temp light comes on. had fluid and

your trans cooler is restricted. most likely it is part of your radiator and if it is restricted you will either need to replace the radiator or install an aftermarket cooler. have your trans cooler flow checked and go from there

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge grand caravan sport. Transmission

I need a little mor info. But the reason for the being stuck in 2nd gear is because when something goes wrong with the tranny. it goes into "LIMP" mode wich keeps the trans. from shifting out of 2nd when you are going forward. It does sound like your trans. is gone out though.

Sounds like the trans could use a service, it might be too late to save it and will need a rebuild, but your description sounds like low pump pressure.

2001 dodge dakota sport shifting ok until heats up and them only has 1st gear and reverse

I presume it's an automatic--could be low fluid or internal pressure problem in trans. Check fluid level when warm --read dipstick as to whether to put in park or neutral when checking. Otherwise, take to shop for testing.

Transmission want shift

trans wont shift? Is this from one gear to another. First, with the car warmed up, engine running and in park (with the emergency brake on) check the fluid. If its low ad proper amount of trans fluid. If it's full you could have a probvlem so take it to AAMCO as they will diognose it for free!

Wont shift into low when stopping

well the taking off in second could be a sensor or vacume line...but when you step down on the gas real hard it is suppose to shitf to low that would be your kick down vacume line..
