Question about 2002 Volkswagen Golf

How do you remove boot lock on vw passat 1999 1.8SE

I need to change the actuator in my boot but have been unable to release the locking mechanism which holds the actuator. I undid the 2 nuts but the lock was still stuck solidly to the boot lid. Are there anymore screws or does the lock need to be turned to a certain angle similar to when removing household door lock barrels?

Replace lock actuator

Hi
you need to test that the lock solenoid is getting a +ve pulse when you press the open button...it may have a broken wire.
However, if the solenoid has seized its a straight forward job to fit a new one.
Remove boot door inner trim...locate solenoid..two screws hold the body and a white clip onto the lock mechanism...fitting is a reverse of removal

My remote central locking system has failed (not battery in fob) and I cannot access my fuel tank. Can I manually release the tank cover without removing all the rear panelling? VW Passat Estate 05 plate.

vw doesnt have an emergency release handle that i know of,you will have to remove the panel and then twist the cable end where the head of the gas door lock is, as you twist it will pop out, unless its electric release then do the same except there no cable just the lock head and a connector. the release seloniod may be bad or stuck, or the door may be stuck.hope this helps,

CENTRAL LOCKING NOT OPENING BOOT

My passat boot lock does the same because someone forced the lock one night, i replaced the lock barrel but from time to time the white plastic acctuator or pump if you want to call it that jams in the open position and needs a small tap with the boot lining removed to free it up.A replacement is only £23(U.K pounds) or just spay a little lubricant in the mechanism to free up the mostly dry plastic parts.

Hi.
Heat will not help and can damage the door lock mechanism further.
You can try lubing the door lock, but I do not thing it will help. I think there may be something wrong with the mechanism, or you will get the same problem from outside and inside.
If the door is opening from the inside , then the door lock mechanism My still be working. On VW the outer handle is connected to the lock by a steel wire, or by a metal shaft.
To access the door lock you need to remove the internal door panel. The door panel is held by hidden screws located on handles and by a set of clips located behind the panel near to the panel border.
I have service manual for several VW models, I will see if I can find the manual for 1995-1997 Passat and I will eventually send the diagrams to undo the door and access the lock.
