SOURCE: Replace a fuel pump on a 1993 Chrysler Fifth Avenue

It sounds like a fuel line broke, most likely because it rusted through. The fuel pump is running otherwise you wouldnt see any fuel spewing out from under the car. Get under the car and see where the line broke. In most cases, you can replace the broken section of line and it will be fine.
To answer your question though, to replace the fuel pump, you will need to remove the fuel tank from the car, as the pump is attached to the sending unit inside the tank. To remove the tank, you will need to disconnect the fuel filler neck, the fuel lines, and unplug the electrical connector, then get a jack under the tank and remove the straps holding the tank in the car. Lower the jack and you will be able to access the top of the tank where the sending unit is located. Romove the lock ring holding it in, and remove it from the tank.

Take that new pump out and install the correct one. Why would you install something that is not an exact match to what you removed??

SOURCE: My 1993 chrysler new yorker fifth avenue is not

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You want to check all fuel pump fuses, relays, and reset button, if equipped. Since it is a new pump, it should work. You still need to make sure it is getting enough power to work. You need to make sure the pump is getting 12 volts of power. You need a voltage meter to test the current in the wires. You may have a bad wire in the fuel pump wiring harness. Make sure you inspect the whole harness and test each wire. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and thanks for using FixYa.

Hello my name is Christopher I have a 96 Chevy K 1500 5.7. my fuel pump isn't turning on. I have a new relay. good pump and wiring seems intact.I tried an experiment( carb swap) and removed the pump...

check that the earth wire is making good contact , when ignition off the relay should have power to one prong , does it ? the brighter light on one prong than the other does point to a earth problem though, i presume you have checked the fuse board , as you know some fuses feed thing's not mentioned , worth a check , keep me posted if you wish

My fifth avenue runs real good then just stalls

If you still have the lean burn ignition system, it has probably gone bad. Chrysler dealers used to sell a kit that included a new distributor and module to fix this problem and get rid of the lean burn system. They are probably still available online or ebay.

My 85 Chrysler runs ok for 20 mins than it just quits, replaced fuel pump, coil, inline fuel filter, complete distribeter.

It is more than likely temp. related. Check the coolant temperature sensor, and possibly all your vacuum hoses. This car still has a pcv valve too. Change that .
See if you have any critter nests in the air intake. The duct that actually feeds through the air filter

No fuel to carberator

What you replaced is 3/4 of the equation. The only thing left is an obstruction in a fuel line, unless I am missing something, and assuming that all the replacement parts you put on are functioning properly. Hope this helps and good luck with your problem. I would check things like the fuse for the fuel pump, ect.
