How to replace fuel pump and fuel filter ?

the fuel pump is in your gas tank. make sure all of or most of the gas is out before you drop the tank. the tank is held on by two straps. once you drop it you will have to disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections to completely separate it from the vehicle. the fuel filter is simple and is held on by two bolts. just follow your fuel line from your fuel pump and you'll find it. make sure to depressurize the fuel system before changing the filter. also make sure your battery is disconnected before changing the fuel pump.

How to change the fuel pump

Basicaly your fuel pump located inside of gas tank, you have to lift and secure the vehicle high enough to lose and drop the gas tank!!
Before decided to do this make sure gas tank is near empty lift&secure the vehicle visual check around the gas tank make sure all fuel and evap lines are disconnected nothing hold the gas tank except holder brackets, use under jack and safely secure gas tank( do not use direct jack to gas tank use wooden piece to dont damage it)
use right size socket and wrench lose braket holdet nuts and bolts safely drop the tank and place on safe work place (no smokes or sparks)
locate to fuel pump and remove the locker pin and pull out fuel pump slowy your fuel pump should sale complete assembly so replace pump unit and be carefully complete wire connections (TIPS,,With new fuel pump make sure replace the sealing gasket with correct new one or you gonna have serivce engine light for small evap leak so make it right at first time!!))
reinstall eveything the way you removed it !!
good luck and make sure you gonna have helper around to drop the tank<

2005 Trailblazer Ext: how doi fix a gas gauge on my chevy trailblazer 20...

Common problem on the 03-06 Trailblazer instrument clusters for the fuel gauge to go out. It's usually caused by one of two main problems, either the stepper motor on the cluster's circuit board is going out or the sending unit on the fuel pump is going out. Check out this blog post about the problem - Trailblazer fuel gauge problems

Fuel pump, where is it located, in the tank or out?

Most likely if this is a fuel injected vehicle which most modern vehicles are. The fuel pump is located in the gas tank. To get to it, you most likely have to drop your exhaust then drop your rear axle in most cases to then be able to drop the gas tank and access the fuel pump.

My car won't start

Turn the key on and listen for the 2 second prime of the fuel pump. It's that same humming sound you've heard every time you turned the key up until now. Get a friend to turn it and listen from the trunk or under the tank. If no hum, the pump is bad. Same thing happened with my 03 Malibu with 57k miles. Mileage isn't the issue though, it was the faulty gas gauge that led me to run it bone dry out of gas. This causes the fuel pump to overheat and die when you repeatedly try to restart it. I had to disconnect, drain & drop the tank and replace it with a used model. Yes, used parts of this nature CAN be useful and reliable for about 20% of the new part cost. I got mine on eBay with a 30-day warranty for about 50 bones, works great. New part - $289.00. BONUS- the fuel filter is only 6.99, may as well replace it since you're disconnecting lines anyway. Can't miss it during the tank drop procedure.
