What engine ? Does it have CPI - center port fuel injection ?

some are worn but seem to still hold a vacuum ???? could you explain
Do you have a scan tool that reads engine sensor data ? Could have mass air flow sensor ! Crankshaft position sensor . Do you know how to test obd 1 engine sensors ? Test don't guess .

Blue smoke is oil. Have you checked you pcv? (Pollution control valve) it usually runs from one of the valve covers to the airfilter unit.

Sounds like a camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor.You will need a scan to see what is going on.Is there a fuel pressure regulator on this car or a bleed back pressure valve ? You might want to look at these as well. good luck

hook up fuel pressure gauge see what it reads,could be low,or u can try spraying starting fluid in it take off air cleaner make sure starting fluid is getting in intake,if it starts quicker id say low fuel pressure is problem

Rough idle 95 astro van, I did a full tune up , plugs,wires,cap, rotor,air filter,and fuel filter and cleaned egr vavle.
I actually had to replace my EGR valve and the gasket. I clean the valve well and reused both. I don't think the gasket sealed well enough though. So I went ahead and got a new valve, gasket and changed them. It runs a lot smoother now.

My 1992 chevy g20 van surges and i'm not sure exactly why. I changed the pcv valve, fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. What are some possibilities
My first thought would be a vacuum leak in one of the hoses. Rubber hoses get brittle with age and even a small crack in a hose may cause surging. Happened to me in a Lumina.
