Question about 2003 Ford Escape

1 Answer

Driver's side wiper has developed play on my 2003 Escape

The driver's side wiper has developed significant play/slop.
I have removed the cover and it appears as though the connection at the base of the wiper shaft to the driver arm has worn loose.
Without taking this apart I can't tell if this can be repaired or tightened or needs to be replaced. Can anyone tell me this?
Also, If the shaft and housing needs to be replaced, can you tell me if I can easily separate this from the stiffening bar and driver arm or does the whole assy. need to be replaced?

Probably bad end on linkage. Remove wiper blades, then cowl covers, then unbolt entire linkage from motor and cowl to remove it. Inspect and repair or replace.

2013 ford escape driver side wiper goes up n stops turn key off Nan back on wiper goes down passenger side does not move

Pop your hood and remove the plastics between your hood and windshield.
Then look at the windshield wiper mechanical assembly. Most likely one of the snap-on connectors came off.
To remove your wipers pull up the plastic cover that attaches to the post that sticks out and also turns your wiper blades next remove the nut on top. Next pull up on the arm (it might be tight) to remove your wiper blade holders. Assembly is just in the reverse order.
If you have never done this before its not hard just be patient and look at what your doing.
Most parts can be bought online and installed by vehicle owners.

All you need to do is to remove the wiper blades of the driver side and then switch on and off the wipe so that the other wiper is seen to work in correct position. Now switch off and in the parked condition, fit back the driver side wiper to the stem.
The wiper must now work

Windshield wipers keep hitting each other. Driver side wont go all the way up. I replaced the Wiper transmission assy. but that did not fix the problem. Motor spins all the way around.

So why was the trans replaced the first time. The arm on the motor is supposed to go around. If the wiper arms are installed correctly, all should be OK. Is there any slop in the linkage?

2003 Chevy Cavalier - Driver side wiper doesn't work

Likely broke the nylon bushing cap on the left side wiper transmission assembly. Best as I can tell, the cap is not replaceable so replacement of the assembly is required. These are available new AC Delco p/n 19120840 about $75, or on ebay used for about $35. ACDelco 19120840 Windshield Washer Transmission Kit. Goold luck, mine's broke too!

Drivers side windshield wiper went past the window. Now it doesn't move at all. the wiper also can be moved by hand with the motor off.

The base nut needs to be tightned, with the key on and wipers off, now turn key off and position wiper in the park position (down) then tight the nut, remove the cover at the bottom of the arm to see nut,75c3630.gif

03 cavalier wiper on driver side is out is it fuse or motor?

you need to remove both the wiper arms. Take off the rain seal from under the windshield. remove the cover underneath you will find the rod has worn and dropped off you must get a complete new mechanism. Or if you cant afford to do that re attatch the rod to the buckle pin on the wiper arm and use some insulation tape to make a temporary repair till you can get a new one.
