SOURCE: 1998 subaru forester runs rough when it rains.

Check the cap and rotor for internal carbon tracking or, just change them. Also, take a look at the coil when its dark and rainy and see if there is any arcing where the coil wire goes into it.

SOURCE: Procedure for replacing rear wheel bearings 2000 Forester

i'm assuming you don't have a hubshark, this is a tool that will alllow you to remove the bearing while the knuckle is attached to the car,you may be able to rent this tool at a auto prts store .if not you need to remove the entie knuckle, first remove the trailing arm bolt, then the lateral link bolt{long and stubborn bolt},disassemble the brake shoes and parking brake cable, abs sensor if equipped the knuckle to strut bolt{no marking necessary they are not eccentric} then you need a to use or borrow a press to remove hub and bearings good luck

SOURCE: Installing replacement side mirror on 2007 Subaru Forester

yes... you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you can access the bolts holding the mirror on and disconnect the wiring harness as well..

AWD went out in my 1998 Subaru Forester?

This recently happened to my 98 Subaru Legacy Outback.
My problem is in the rear differential. May be the same for you.
When making a turn, the car sounds like a Star Wars T.I.E. Fighter. The outside wheel is not turning fast enough to keep up with the inside wheel or vice versa. AWD is disengaged and car is currently operating on Front WD. I was told this is fine to drive this way.

My 1998 Engine EJ20J hasitates, can ECU be reprogrammed or do i have to change it to higher version?

Hello,I had the same problem with my 1998 2.0 Forester,I tried a lot options:
(other spark plugs, new sparkplugcables, other ignition coil, replacing the knocksensor, another camshaft sensor, reset the ECU on a Subaru select monitor,"it doesn work with an universal scantool" using ron98 petrol instead of ron95),but no satisfiing result.
At least i bougt on E-Bay a new ECU ,an 22611AD311 in stead of the AD310,
The AD311 has an software update and now the engine runs smoother and the hasitation is practically gone.
But you can trie a reset first, you can also do it yourself,
Disconnect the both batteryclams set the ignitionswiths on with the key and push the brake for 5 seconds. Then connect the battery and try.
Good luck with it

Removing Camshaft pulley on 2.5 Dohc forester motor

To replace the timing belt back guard you will have to remove both pulleys. There is a small bolt under each pulley holding the belt guard Use a large socket to hold the pulley while you break the bolt loose with a 17mm socket. I have just done this while replacing my head gaskets due to coolant boiling from the gasket leak.
