Look at the rear wiring to the tail lights, any trailer towing wiring that might have been installed, get under the truck and check the harness for bare spots anywhere that its rubs against the under body metal parts, pull the bulbs and see if short goes away, not that, then disconnect the harness connector under the truck to the rear tail lights and see if short goes away.

Fuse blows when put in reverse

Possibly an internal failure of the reverse switch. The blown fuse is for both the reverse and the turn signal lights. The fix is replacement of the reverse switch.

I have a 03 isuzu rodeo and every time I turn the ignition the turning signal fuse blows

Most likely a short in the directional circuit. Start at the blubs and disconnect the connectors at the bulb sockets. disconnect one at a time and see if the fuse continues to blow. When the fuse stops blowing you have found which circuit it is. Also, this could be the stalk switch on the steering column. disconnect and see if the fuse blows, and don't forget the 4 way flasher switch also. Lastly, pull the relay and check if the fuse still blows.

Why does my 95 chevy 4x4 diesel keep blowing fuses when i put it in reverse

You can rule out internal transmission wires. The only thing I know of would be the reverse light wiring. You have one power wire to the neutral switch. So when the lights are supposed to come on the fuse blows the turn signal . You said you check the wiring, Did you check for continuity? High resistance cause a higher amperage draw. Also did you check the hot wire for short to ground? Try leaving the engine off. No lights on. Put it in reverse, see what lights come on. Have someone stand in back and watch as you put it in reverse. The lights should flash for a split second before the fuse blows. If any other lights come on, you have lost ground to the reverse lights.

Why backup lights blowing fuse every time the van is put in reverse.2000 chevy venture

Most likely the lead to the reverse lights has been worn through and is grounded out.

Remove both of your tail lights, Locate the wire for your reverse light and see if you can track it back very far to see if you can see the wire worn through anywhere. There is also a possibility that it could be worn and/or shorting near your reverse sensor switch (near your automatic transmission shifter stick)

also make sure your reverse lights are good and not filled with water or anything else either.

I put my 87 4runner in reverse and it blows the 15A engine fuse

Hello there:
I would first refer to the owners manual to make sure that the fuse that is blowing is of the right amps also check the fuses under the hood too. than i would check to see if there is any shorts anywhere and get them fixed. You can also take the car to autozone and have the free diagnostics done on the vehical ok?
hope that htis has helped out some.
best regards mike

Where to find a fuse box on a toyota landcruiser 1987

Hi

The fuse block is located below the left side of the instrument panel on 1973-88 trucks. In addition, the radio is protected by a separate fuse located in the wire between the radio and the fuse block.

If a fuse should blow, turn off the ignition switch and also the circuit involved. Replace the fuse with one of the same amperage rating, and turn on the switches. If the new fuse immediately blows out, the circuit should be tested for shorts, broken insulation, or loose connections.

Please do rate this solution.

Thanks
Rylee

Reverse light short

if im not mistaken, under the car on the tranny you should find the switch, youll have to consult a manual for the exact location. it should be on the drivers side, look for a bump with wires coming out of it. i was haveing the same problem with my 1985 trooper. i found that the switch was partially unplugged and causing a short, thus blowing the fuse. follow the wires until you find a connection. see if it is unplugged. if not, then check the cotinuity of the switch with a multitester. it may be a bad switch
