On the Tahoe, it is under the driver's door attached to the frame. remove the fuel filler cap to relieve pressure on the fuel system as well as under the hood on the fuel like there is a pressure valve similar to the one on a tire that you can release pressure on. Then take two wrenches and loosen up the fittings and replace the filter! (some filters require a special plastic tool that slides along the fuel line and releases the fuel line similar to how a hydraulic line would be released...these plastic tools are cheap, just a few bucks at the auto parts store!)

First contact your dealer as Ford has a recall on that year model fuel filter, it is an inline tyep on the frame rail that requires wrenches to replace. You can get them at any parts house but check with your dealer about the recall first, might get for for free!

SOURCE: where is the fuel filter on a 2005 chevy tahoe

IF it has one, it will be located along the inside of the frame, below the drivers door. Many versions of 2003, 2004, 2005, Tahoe did not use frame mounted fuel filters, but relied only on a "sock" in the tank on the fuel pump pickup.

Fuel filter where is it 2005 chevy tahoe 5.3 liter

Fuel Filter
The fuel filter is contained in the fuel sender assembly inside the fuel tank. the paper filter element of the fuel filter traps particles in the fuel that may damage the fuel injection system. The fuel filter housing is made to withstand maximum fuel system pressure, exposure to fuel additives, and changes in temperature. There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement.

I've read conflicting reports that GM quit putting replacement fuel filters on certain Tahoes. If it's not located along the frame rail then it is an internal filter. I would chat with a certified GM mechanic to make sure.

How often do I need to change my 2004 Tahoe fuel filter?

If your Tahoe is the 5.3 Non flex fuel then its in the gas tank then you dont replace it.
It's supposed to last the life of the
Tahoe.
If your Tahoe is the 5.3 flex then the fuel filter is located on the under carriage of the frame and should be replaced every 15,000 miles.
