Question about 1999 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

99 Lincoln Navigator

2nd post - more information.

1999 AWD Lincoln Navigator has a vibration under hard acceleration. It sounds and feels like the back tires are running over the ''wake up'' strips along highways. At first, I thought it was only during shifting, but it is during hard acceleration in 1st thru 3rd gear. It won't do it in overdrive, but that is probably due to limited accelaration ability in this gear. I bought the car used, so I do not know it's history.

There are a couple of parts you can try and if they have not coded on the cars computer, a dealer may be able to look at service bulletins. There is a differential speed sensor and an antilock brake sensor. You can have locking clutch paks and may require a special additive. An old fashion U-joint can vibrate under load.

The good news is with a Vin# the dealer can pull up the entire service history if the car was serviced under warranty or in a Ford dealer anywhere. They just do not want you to know the past owner.

Hi Leopoldo

You need to post this in the original post by clicking COMMENT under the person you are replying to. Or if you are just supplying more information, you can click Comment under you own post. Doing it this way won't work as Fixya gets 7 million posts a year, so the chances of the person seeing it as slim to nonexistent.

04 navigator flasher relay location

Contrary to other posts, the 03-05 Lincoln Navigator turn signal flasher relay is not above the ODBII diagnostic plug above the accelerator. It is in a plastic box that is located six inches above the hood release lever. The plastic cap can be prised off by wiggling and pulling up. The flasher release is the larger of the two in the relay module Due to placement, this has to be done entirely by feel.

I have a 2003 Nav with the exact same problem. I've found it diminishes when taken out of overdrive. Also it's intermittent but more towards bucking. Sorry to post this under solutions.
