The only pulley with rubber that comes to mind is the hamonic balancer on the crank pulley if that is deffective only option is to replace it and NOW!

Nothing spinning over


The crank pully is a two piece pully. The inner part is connected to the crank via key way, the outter piece, which runs all the drive belts is rubber mounted to the inner part. Check the center of the crank pully is turning when cranking the engine over with the key.

I installed a new powersteering pump on a 88 gmc k1500, now it eats serpentine belts cant get the pullies lined up right how do i fix?


I would install a reman pump,never try & remove a pully
The pump wasn't the problem

Your problem is most likely that the crank damper has
worn & moved. The rubber in it is the issue & it is hard
to see any misalignment

Crank shaft pully makes noise


Cranshaft pulley is bad,probably has rubber damper which is damaged or worn loose.Don't run it this way.Get the pulley replaced now. don-ohio

The pully assembly for the serpentine on my 2004 santa fe has a loose pully, ie: it came apart when I pulled off the grime shield in the wheel hub, IDK which of the pullies this loose part connects to, and...


It sounds like the harmonic balancer came apart. This is a two part pulley seperated by a rubber gasket. The part itself is much less expensive at auto parts stores than the dealership but you may need to wait a few days for it to arrive as most stores won't have the part in stock. A picture of the harmonic balancer is below:

One is on the crank shaft pully (for TDC). It is a line, scribed on the pully, that alligns to a pointer on the plastic timing belt cover. The second is on the cam shaft pully. It can be accessed by removing the rubber inspection plug on the timing belt cover. The third is on the auxillary shaft (oil pump) and is also accessed through an inspection plug on the timing belt cover.

On the cam and oil pump pullies, the diamond aligns to the diamond and the triangle aligns to the triangle (the pullies have both). These should be perfectly aligned when the crankshaft pully line is at 0 deg TDC. If you can't see the marks through the inspection port while the crank is at 0 TDC, you are 180 degrees out - turn the crank one more time.

check the crank pully for wear mate
it is common for the rubber bonding between the inner and outer pully to fail causing noise when setting off and eventually at idle.

Knocking noise


you will need ro replace the crank shaft pully
the reason for this is that the inner part of the pully is rubber mounted and the rubber fails ovet time

My crankshaft pulley wobbles and makes a weird noise on my 93 prizm lsi


Hi there;
Somethimes this happens over time. It is usualy caused by an oil leak at or above the pully causing the rubber in the "hamonic balancer" which is part of that pully system to fail. If you don't have it repaired you will find the pully will wear through the cover behind it. So be sure to get it repaired.

1990 Oldsmobile Cierra camshaft pully


do you mean crankshaft pulley? i dont know of a cam pulley on these.

if so replace the whole thing. the rubber on these go bad and rip away from the pulley. it happens. Just get a new one. should be a press fit one. may need a pulley puller. not the JAW type, but the 3 bolt type.
