Question about 2001 Pontiac Bonneville

I have water coming in on the driver's side

I think the water is coming in though the back door and when water gets high enough or with hard braking runs under driver's seat to front floor.Dealership removed left side lower rocker mouldings and replaced 4 clips Jan 2008.Problem started after this was done.

water can only get in around the door seal or weatherstripping. check all that for breaks unless you have rust hole and your car is very old.

How to check Saab 9-3 inner door membrane

`Your door has drain holes on the bottom. Poke a stick up them to make sure they're not plugged. I think you'd hear the water sloshing around if enough were to accumulate to drain into your floor. The membrane is a plastic water shield, glued to the door frame just behind the panel. It just provides a water-tight seal for the electrical switches and connectors in back of the door panel, and to prevent door panel from rotting or getting mold. Water and moisture get into the inside of door from rain on outside of glass. Should drain out the bottom. The membrane just protects back side of door panel and the electrical stuff.

Brake fluid is leaking from what appears to be some type of small (index finger size) filter in the brake line under the drivers side passenger door. I've never heard of a filter in the brake line,...

i think what your referring to is a proportioning valve that regulates the pressure to the brake that the line goes to,this helps regulate brake pressure to all the wheels so they are the same during braking so there is no wheel lock up while the other wheels don`t lock up.this is a common place for the fluid to leak out when the car gets old enough due to environmental conditions such as winter driving,corrosion,wet weather (lots of rain),salt conditions(living near salt water),it will have to be replaced and the brake lines should be checked for condition as they may need replacing as well.

Have installed new (rebuilt) calipers on '83 El Dorado. Parking brake doesn't work on passenger side. Had to use tool to press piston in far enough for installation on other side (driver) but this...

Your description gives me a suspicion the calipers weren't rebuilt to a very high standard.

The pistons don't turn as they are pushed out but mostly they have to be rotated or screwed and pressed in prior to fitting the pads.

Once fitted and bled ensure the caliper parking brake lever is hard against the backstop and then press the brake pedal hard a few times and the adjustment should be complete after removing any slack or free play from the parking brake cable.
With a new or quality rebuilt caliper a good parking brake should be obtained without needing to shorten the cable so the caliper levers are lifted from the backstops. That is the sort of compromise needed as the internal components become worn.

My Malibu has a leak somewhere the floorboard in back of drivers side is soaked, I read it could be the drain from the sunroof or ac plug how can I find out where it is coming from?

some black ink dissolved in a bucket of water ,i would plump for the sunroof they empty down the centre door pilar i think ,only ever seen one of these cars though here in spain so i couldnt really say but a lot of europeon cars run down the centre door pilar

check the motor water level .
if it's not full then you have leakage in a/c water circuit

Ballast resistor location

should be on the firewall...can't remember which side but I think its on driver side It's ceramic rectangle with four wires. (I had one and just can't picture where exactly it was.) One tip though, when you put it back on, use some high temp silicone around top and side edges, leave bottom open. They usually fail from water dripping down and cracking resistor (gets hot).

Replacing front driver side (F150) brake line (rubber hose)

Brake fluid is highly corrosive. If you can't get the line loose on the frame side then I would suggest replacing the hard line as well coming from the master cylinder. Or if you have a flaring tool you could cut the hard line just behind the rubber and put a new fitting on it. Pretty easy if you have the tool. Essentially you will wind up kinking or breaking the hard line anyway if the fitting won't come loose easy.
