The casting should unscrew counter clockwise when looking at the lighter hold the green part of the tab and twist the outer metal piece once that is done slide the green piece into the lighter slot and take the outer shell and screw it back on, this is what holds it in place, next hook up the hot wire then the ground. Do it in that order so as not to short out the electrical system.

This is simple but I think you should let a mechanic do it,the lesson you need is not worth the money your trying to save.

How to replace a cigarette lighter socket

Easiest thing on a car. The new cigarette lighter socket is provided in two pieces, which unscrew from each other. The original socket is exactly the same.
All you need to do is disconnect the positive power lead from the back of the old connector, unscrew the back of the old socket, remove the two pieces of the old socket from the ashtray assembly, put the new socket in place exactly as the old one was, and reconnect the positive power lead.
Should take you no more than five minutes.

How to change cigarette lighter in 2012 accent

If your cigarette lighter is not working, be sure to check the fuse. other wise, replaceing the lighter is reasonably easy, if you can get to it. all you have to do is unscrew the housing from the inner section, remove the old lighter and replace with a new one. most wireing is a simple plug in. If you are unsure how to access the lighter, a haines or chiltons manuels for your model should be able to show you how to access it.

Cigarette lighters not working

Check for power at fuse. If power is there a break in the wire going to cig lighter is broken. If no power than there is a blown fusible link by battery. Check fuses under hood also

Trying to change a cigarette lighter and case

I have changed many cigarette lighters. I am not familiar with the term "case". Male and female counter parts I have heard of.. This is one of only a handful of parts that are directly fed off the battery.

It is a pretty simples fix. Disconnect the negative(red) wire from the battery. Disconnect the two wires on the back of the lighter assembly. Replace with new combination shaft and barrel and you should be good to go.

If you have and further help please let me know.

2000 pontiac cigarette lighter problem

Look under the hood where the fuses are and their is a fuse box and opened it and flip the lid upside down and look for the cigarette symbol or the name and change the fuse where it indicates on the fuse's are if that doesn't work, take apart the cigarette device and look for any burnt marks or see if the wires are disconnected or problems and change or fix the wiring.
