Question about 2000 Chevrolet S-10

2003 s10 4.3l, rolls but won't start

I have a 2003 s10 crew cab 4x4, 4.3l auto. After leaving it set for 24 hours it will not go. It rolls over, but then sounds like it is binding up, then you have to release the key and try again, and it rolls for a little then binds up. This is while being boosted. I hear the fuel pump, and smell fuel after trying to start, and I have tried pouring the fuel directly. It will not go. Electrical?

    The truck has 158000, and ususally only 2-3 starts per day. General use, no heavy hauling. Have had it 8 months and put on 12000kms. The starter seems to be strong and will roll for several seconds by times. Alomst sounds like timing? But is ran/worked great the last time I shut it off. Discovered plugged air filter and replaced, no change. Checked plugs, look ok(hard to get at) Replacing fuel filter, checking coil, dist. cap + button, wires...... Could sensors be the culprit?

    The engine is not binding, it is more like it rolls thn backfires then stops rolling and you have to turn the key off then try again. Possible crank sensor?

    After installing a new fully charged battery, then engine rolls, not really binding as much as it is more like it rolls normal, a little slow(only a fraction) then pops and stops rolling, then when I let off the key, it is like it has a little run on. Did a simple coil check, simple crank sensor check, and after rolling for a while I can smell fuel under the hood so I am sure fuel is coming, and the pop I assume is spark igniting the fuel, but at the wrong time?

    I replaced the cap and rotor button today and it now runs, but idles a little low and almost stalls or sometimes does when you let off the throttle.
    Any ideas, o2 sensor?

    I LET IT RUN A FEW MINUTES AND IT SEEMS TO WORK FINE NOW.....ABOUT TO TEST DRIVE AND SEE

    Cap and rotor did the trick, works perfect after a 5 and 1/2 hour test drive. Thanks to all for your help and input.

Is your starter any good?sounds like your starter is binding(it's worn out) how many miles do you have,and what do you use this vehicle for.Are you haviing to start you vehicle a lot every day? if so get a new starter.

    Solve the question does this engine turn over with out binding? Disconect the battery ground. turn over the engine by hand using a half inch rachet,Either turn using the alternator pulley bolt or the cam bolt or best yet the crank pulley.you can also turn over the engine by turning the fly wheel on the transmission,you mignt have an inspection hole you can use.Turn over the engine two complete times this will eliminate the engine having its own turning over problem,If the engine turns over by hand then go to the next step of elimination,what is making it turn over and bind?

Check the connector at the pump for tightness and corrosion. Check for power and ground at the connector.

if you are getting about 14 on average no matter what you do it will not improve, Don't fall for any misleading claims because nothing you add will work. It takes fuel to make power the only improvement i have seen is by reprograming the computer but you must loose power in order to save fuel.

Pretty much...had a 2006 Chev 2500HD Crew Cab 4X4 w/6.0; got 12mpg regularly...which is why it's someone else's truck now. Have a 03 1500 GMC 5.3 Ext Cab now; get 18-21 mpg. Sweet!

turned to the right 4x4 engaged. turned to the lef 4x4 disengaged. righty-tighty=engaged, lefty-lucy=disengaged. hope this helps.

2001 fronteer crew 4x4 dash lights


Check instrument panel fuse first. It would be labled on the fuse door or in manual. If not blown i would suspect the dimmer switch. There are to many bulbs in a instrument panel for them all to blow at one time.

I have a ford f 250 4x4 2003 and my horn doesnt work and the overhead compass/information instrument will not turn on. the airbag light blinks a few times them stays on. whats the deal?

maybe your right,but for sure your not gonna need a torque converter,it could be a seal or a big O-RING for the pump

Heater core on a 2003 Chevrolet pickup 4 wheel drive crew cab


if you have air conditioning you will need to take it to a garage and recover the r134, you will need to remove the dash to allow you to remove the heater box, it's an ugly job, I've done a dozen or so and can do it in about 6 hours now, the first time it was closer to 11 hrs, good luck
