Question about 2002 Ford SVT Focus

1 Answer

Okay, I have a 2002 ford focus...4 door sedan and not the svt model. I keep losing brake fluid which causes my clutch to go out. Have refilled the brake fluid and have pumped on the clutch for quite a while and still cannot get it to go into gear. Please, help! Where is the bleeder for this and how can 1 person do this?

The bleeder for the brake lines is a small bolt on the caliper which is on each rotor and to access it you mush take off each wheel, generally one person can not do this since it requires one person to pump and hold the brake pedal while the other looses the bolt to release the air/fluid but they do sell kits at auto parts stores that will help you bleed it by yourself, though I would try getting a friend or neighbor to help you. I believe you have a bigger problem though since you shouldn't be loosing brake fluid, so this indicates a leak in the brake system which should be fixed immediately.

If you have drum brakes in the back, they need adjusted out. If you didn't replace the drum you need to at least grind down the lip of rust at the edge of it. then adjust them.

Break light fues keeps blowing, what might cause this?

the brake light switch maybe the cause
it is located by the brake pedal with a plunger style switch
disconnect the connector and wire a jumper through the connector.
if your brake lights stay on the switch is fried

you can be rest assured with out a doubt that your slave cylinder has failed miserably......brake fluid on the floor of the inner cab of the vehicle is a very nice tell tale sign also...../you can go forward with your repair in confidence....
