Question about 2002 Ford SVT Focus

Open Question

2002 Ford Focus clutch keeps going out because I keep losing brake fluid. I just refilled it and am having trouble getting it to go into gear, even though I've manually pumped the clutch for quite a while. With ignition off, I can get every gear, with it started I can't get one. Please, help

I have a 2003 Ford Focus lx and the clutch pedal has no resistance on it and it will not go into gear. Please help I need this car to get to work

Check the clutch fluid level. It will be a small reservoir close to the brake master cylinder. If the clutch reservoir is empty, add fluid.( brake fluid ) You may have to perform a bleed procedure at the clutch slave cylinder attached to the transmission Pump the clutch pedal several times and have someone open the bleeder screw until fluid comes out and the clutch pedal has its resistance back

The clutch uses the brake fluid to work; check the brake fluid level.

Where is the clutch fluid refill located on a 1998 toyota rav4. I found the brake fluid reservoir, but am not seeing a reservoir for clutch fluid. Any help

If you look at the drivers side of the brake fluid reservoir you should see a rubber hose that feeds to the clutch master cylinder. The clutch master cylinder is kept full via the brake fluid reservoir.

Hard to shift my gears when car in cold.Won't even go out of neutral to 1st gear.Forget about going into reverse.

With the engine off, check your operation of the gear shift. If you can go in and out of the gears fine without the engine running, then you have a worn clutch disc that needs replaced. If the problem still exists then you either have low fluid/weak hydraulic system, or there is a problem with the syncro that may be adjusted.

Clutch pedal loses pressure. I keep adding brake

hi you have an obvius leak in the hydraulic system either the master cylinder seals have warn or the slave cylinder has warn seals you will have to check which it is first as either are ok for the average diy guy who knows how to hold a wrench so to speake and it will either take 2 people to blead them through or you will have to purchase a bleed system...( or as i used to do it a long bit of hose , glass jar half filled with fluid make sure hose is transparent so you can see the air bleading out) hope this helps

No gears at all. only done 20.000 miles, but brake resevoir very low as well

Is it a manual transmission (you mention gears)?

Are you sure the brake reservoir is low?

Some manual transmission clutches have fluid reservoirs similar to brake fluid reservoirs. If the clutch fluid gets low, the car will be difficult to shift.

Ford Focus 2002: won't go into gear.. any gear

automatic transmissions can break down over time. my focus had its transmission replaced once about 3 years ago and at that time my boss owned it and had it replaced for at least 4 digits 2000-3000$.

Manual transmissions last a bit longer[ not much ] and are lighter an easy to repair, but a shop will charge the same for the parts.

automatic are heavy and a little more complex

if you have a friend who is good with cars im sure you can save a lot more money

but make sure you have transmission fluid. look for a yellow cap [ sometimes its different colors] that should be to the right or left mid section and remove the cap and make sure its the transmission fluid cap and check to see if its low. try refilling but check for leaking so you dont waste it

your trans might be leaking so check to see if a red fluid it dripping from under your car, that may be the problem and the transmission may need to be replaced

have you checked to make sure your clutch fluid is topped up? low hydrolic fluid can sometimes cause this.

Car cies when brakes are applied, and won't go back ingear.

sounds like your clutch needs adjusting . There should be adjustments on the top or bottom of cable. If adjustment is ok check clutch pedal points the brackets that support it sometimes crack if the cable gets stiff
