Dear friend-the OBD2 connector that you are looking for is underneath the fusebox underneath the steering.

It has been a while but it should be on the driver's side under the dashboard. Near the kick panel. Hope that helps, most of your chain auto parts stores will diagnose you for free if the vehicle is drivable to take it to them.

Is there an OBD1 readear for a 95 Nissan Maxima?

In rare cases your 1995 Maxima might use OBD2 but it is probably a OBD1. You could try an OBD1 reader but unfortunately OBD1 was not anywhere as useful for diagnostics as the OBD2.

You can either do it with a scan tool through the OBD2 diagnostic connector or you can disconnect the battery negative cable for 5 minutes, which is not the preferred method because you loose all stored cutomer info plug learned info on the powertrain control module..

I cant find my codes for my 94 nissan maxima under the dash where else could it be

There are no "codes" under the dash, just the OBD2 connector to hook up a scanner to read the codes. maybe near the fuse box? or parking brake release knob.

How do you reset the service engine light?

Locate the diagnostic connector. On the 1997 Nissan Maxima the connector is located in the OBD2 standardized location under the driver-side dash, slightly to the right of the steering column. With the ignition key in the "OFF" position, plug the connector of the scan tool into the diagnostic connector of the car. Turn the ignition key to the run position but do not start the engine unless instructed to by the scan tool.

Turn the scan tool on and select "Global OBD2" from the main menu. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" from the first sub-menu, and then "Read Trouble Codes" from the second sub-menu. Write down all listed codes and their descriptions before erasing them. This will save time if you must perform additional diagnostics.

Press the back button on the scan tool until the second sub-menu is displayed, and select "Erase Codes" or "Clear Codes," depending on the manufacturer of the scan tool. A message will appear asking you to confirm your desire to erase the codes and other stored data. Select "Yes". The scan tool will alert you when the codes have been erased.

Test drive the vehicle to verify the repair is complete. The 1997 Nissan Maxima on-board computer will run a series of tests on the systems in the vehicle, including emission control devices. To complete these tests you must take two test drives that include a variety of driving conditions, with a 2-minute cool-down between each test drive. If the service engine soon light does not come back on during these two test drives, you have completed the repairs and the reset.

I have a 95 nissan maxima and I am trying to locate the computer. I found a connection that looks to be for obd2 near the passanger side of the car in the center console. did they make obd2 on 95 maxima's?...

jnuttz99: The ECM is located to where you access it on the passenger's side of the car. You remove the center console cover under cover, remove the harness protector and them you can remove the ECM.
The car is OBD2 and the ALDL port is in the fuse panel opening at the top of the opening. The fuse panel is to the left of your steering wheel and is a rectangular cover in the lower panel you see in front of you left knee. Just pull on it and it will come off. You will see a grey plastic connector about 1 1/2 inches wide by 1/2 high. You can get the car scanned by Auto Zone for free, so you don't have to go through the trials of figuring out how to decipher the codes. Once they have told you the codes stored, get back to me and I'll see what I can do for you. There should be no reason to access or remove the ECM.
