Question about 2004 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

How can I find someone who will convert the air suspension system on my 2004 Lincoln Navigator? The shop that usually does repairs for me wants $958 to repair the front air bag on the suspension system and after reading the posts here, it seems that converting the system might be the best way to go.

Most any shop should be able to do it if you get the conversion kit.

2004 Lincoln navigator air suspension all the way down front and back if I was to jump the relay to turn compressor on should the truck start raising up unless compressor not pumping or a leak

no it wont. the air suspension works as a complete system. each air spring has an electric solenoid, each corner has an electric height sensor and then the compressor itself. just energizing the compressor will not open the solenoids or sensors both of which are needed to raise the vehicle. what is probably happening is a failure in the computing system for the suspension system. expensive to repair.

How do I know if the suspension control module is bad in a 2005 lincoln navigator?

This is a very complicated and expensive system to maintain. I would strongly recommend doing a air suspension conversion on your Navigator and be done with the problem forever.

The left rear air suspension keeps lowering too much when truck is off but the other 3 stay right

Has to go into the shop to be diagnosed

That is a bad vehicle & bad system to work on,
when it comes to the air suspension

The best solution is to convert it to a conventional
set up,especially since it is 15 years old

You can spend a thousand dollars at a dealer &
some of them have no clue what to do.

Unless your doing all your own work, don't pay someone
to fumble around with an old vehicle, change out the air
system yourself, there are at least four or more companies
that offer those systems

Google the info & mfg's

My Lincoln Navigator air suspension went flat after we replaced all four tires, it won't air back up...please help!!!

AIR COIL SPRINGS WILL DEFLATE AND BE DAMAGED IF YOU DID NOT TURN OFF AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM BEFORE RAISING VECHICLE AND CHANGE TIRES IF YOU DONT TURN OFF AIR SUSPENSION IT WILL CAUSE AIR SPRINGS TO OVER INFLATE CAUSE AIR SPRING SPRING DAMAGE.

2004 Lincoln nave, rear wheels jacked up high, front wheels normal, rides real rough??? any thoughts???? Thanks,

Replace the air suspension with conventional shock/strut
conversions. The Air Ride System is not worth investing
time and money ,after the vehicle is 5 years old.
Too expensive to maintain ,and too difficult to diagnose

Next time buy the Ford version of the vehicle

AIR SUSPENSION NOT RISING

Under the hood there is an air compressor to fill the air bags on the suspension. With age the compressor draws excessive amps and blows the fuse. Check the fuse and see if it has popped. If so replace it. If the fuse is good ,locate the compressor and check the electrical plug to it to see if it has become corroded. If corroded pull the fuse and scrub the contacts with a brass brush untill clean. To keep it from corroding in the future apply some dieletric grease to the contacts and plug it back in. hope that helps, Rich.

Lincoln navigator air suspension

A lot of problems, with that system
If your keeping the vehicle, swap out the air shocks, for conventional
Do not go to a dealer. People on this site, are spending $4000.00, and the dealers, still are unable to repair.

2004 Navigator air suspension randomly comes on

There have been several problems about air suspension. There is a diagnostic plug to test this system. I can not tell you about independent shops having the tools, but try Autozone or Oreillys and see if they can scan the air suspension. If not, it must go to a dealer.

The airpump units are available at Salvage yards. However, a diagnostic test will quickly show which sensor or air suspension bag is leaking. There can be high pressure, so lines must be disconnected with care.
