Is the " service engine soon " light on ? If so start there.
If not it, please keep in mind the there are 2 primary 02 sensors on your car, you may need to change the second 1.
Has a tune-up been done lately ?
Badly worn plugs or a plugged air filter / breather will give you bad readings for the test. Do a good check over.

I have a 93' Ford Taurus that failed emissions

run the fault codes to find the faulty sensor
sensors that control the exhaust emissions are the HO2S ( heated oxygen sensors in the exhaust manifold/s
the O2 sensor ( oxygen sensors after the cat converters ) and the EGR unit that recycles exhaust gas back through the engine to re-burn the gasses

I am looking for a diagram of where the oxygen sensor is

Some models have two sensors, one before the catalyst and one after. This is done for a catalyst efficiency monitor that is a part of the OBD-II engine controls. The one before the catalyst measures the exhaust emissions right out of the engine, and sends the signal to the PCM about the state of the mixture as previously talked about. The second sensor reports the difference in the emissions after the exhaust gases have gone through the catalyst. This sensor reports to the PCM the amount of emissions reduction the catalyst is performing.

Where is the egr valve position sensor located on a 2002 Ford Taurus SE?

I dont think it has one... there is a sensor on the egr pipe that telsl the computer if the egr is operating or not. Its the PDFE sensor, it looks like a little box with 2 hoses on the egr pipe.

Same issue as above, except on a 2002 Taurus.

P1131 (Fault Location) Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1, bank 1, bank 1-not switching, fuel trim (FT) weak mixture (Probably Cause) Wiring, intake/fuel system, HO2S, EGR system, oil level, camshaft timing, cylinder compression, ECM. Could be any one of these. Is your oil level ok on your dip stick?

2002 taurus SEL-5 engine codes to go with light and problems

Cylinders 2, 3 have coil packs change out located on back of motor. you will have to take the upper intake off to get to them. Very easy to do. #2 center plug on back of motor #3 is on drivers side of motor. Crank sensor you will have to remove tire on car passenager side next look at crank pulley on left side of block you will se two wires the heat cover running to it.
Change these first it might correct the O2 sensor problem.

Oxygen sensors

you have 3, 2 upstream and one downstream. They have wire harnesses attached to them and they screw into the exhaust system. Ususally two in the exgaust crossover pipe, the other just behind the catalytic converter.
