Correct me if I am wrong, as I understand it, the tensioner position is of. It may be the source of the noise or the tension is off and you may need adjustment. If adjusting the belt does not fix it have the tensioner checked out. If all checked ok, there might be a pulley that the belt goes to that is causing the sound, probably because of worn out bearings.

My 2003 for tarsus makes a chipping sound I've changed the belt, the pulley, it still make that sound. when I spray wd40 on it stops for a min, and start back. what to do now. please help

i had a sunfire that did the same thing and couldnt figure out why it squeeled. there are two temperary fixes. one is to get a tube of black gasket maker and put about a dime size dab on the actual ribs of the belt in 3 different spots and start the car. it should stop immediately. or you can start the car and sprinkle some cat litter or oil dry directly to belt. basicly its going to fill in the grooves to stop squeel. i hope this helps

I have a 2001 Sonata. I have a squeeling pulley.

It sounds like you have a worn or streched belt making the sqeeling noise. Whenever you turn on a
device in the car that draws a fair amount of voltage
ie. a/c or headlights it will cause increased drag on
the alternator and if you have a loose/worn or glazed
belt, it can slip around the pully making the squeel.
To adjust the alt-a/c belt loosen the mounting bolts
on the tensioner, then use the adjuster bolt behind
the tensioner pully to loosen and tighten the belt.
Be sure to check the belt for cracks bald spots etc.
While the belt is loose spin the pullys to make sure
they all spin freely. Also I would replace the belt just
to be sure. Hope this helps

How to replace belt merc 190d 1985-cant get enough slack to get over pulleys

do not use the tensioner. it has tendency to break a they require a little more time to change. take the belt and use your muscle to get it over the pulleys. make sure you can read the writing on the belt (as you would be holding a book). if its upside down, you stand the possibilty of it squeeling. when you get the belt over the pulley. gently tighten the adjuster until there is just enough tension on the belt that it will not jump excessively and squeel. be careful

2005 nissan ultima.hear a squeeling noise.its worse when ac is of

sounds like to tightened the belt to much... back off the tension on it a little bit, with the belt, you want it tight, but not to tight,,,, it should have about 1/4 flex in the belt when tightened... make a little loose and see if you still have the squeel... if you still do try going to a parts store, like pepboys, autozone etc. pick up some brake cleaner it will be in a canaster, and while the engine is running spray a little <spirts> on the pullys, and see if the squeel stops, if so then it could be a bad bearing in the part... see what makes it stop... the brake cleaner will dry quick and not ruin anything cause you do it in short bursts do not use wd40 or any oil type of stuff on it cause it will cause slippage...

Drive belt squeels, 96 Plymouth Breeze 2.4L

Could be your altenator is going out? you can spray soap on the belt to make the squeel stop but you ge the altenator check. Most auto parts stores can check it for you with out having to remove it.
