Question about 2000 Ford Windstar

2000 Windstar cutting out

I want to say thanks to everyone who tried to help me with my Windstar issue -- cutting out --

I found a great shop with a mechanic that would put my vehicle on diagnostics for free. It turned out to be my CAM SENSOR.

It has now been replaced along with the few other parts we put on trying to figure it all out, and it is running great! By the way, replaced the coil in our quest -- and it definitely needed replacing, cracks everywhere! Better to replace now, than in January when it is 30 below! Again, thanks to all.

You may be headed for the notorious 3.8l head gasket failure. Just had the head gasket replaced in my 2000 Windstar and it is performing normally.

Seeing as how no one ever changes trans fluid and all vehicles tend to have some trans issues,I would say your best bet is to check with a trans shop and if your comfortable there, have it towed. Unless it is something simple, expect about a $2000.00 repair bill.

2001 Windstar stalls after 15-30 minutes restarts when cool

It's best to have your shop put it on a scanner and see what codes it's throwing. This can be several problems. I have seen fuel pumps work intermittent and I've seen them go out after filling up. your case may be ignition problem or could be coil packs going bad. A good mechanic can scan this for you and see what the issue is or Ford Dealer for 75.00 - 100.00. Hope this helps, Chris J.C. Towing

2001 ford windstar vcr screen not working, is this a fuse?

I had the same problem with mine. Turns out that opening and closing the screen caused wires to drag accross a peice of metal and eventually shorted out. I took screen down and found the cut wire, spliced it back together and wrapped it up with electrical tape. Everything works great now.

Most probably...a loose electrical connection. Since you mentioned that the electrical power and the engine got cut off and after sitting for a brief of time, the van cranked back up. You need to check the wiring to see if there's any loose connection.

Here, I provided you the link where you can download the wiring diagram for your 2000 Ford Windstar:

This diagram (manual) will help you trace the problem.

Have a great day!

POSSIBLE BLOWN HEAD GASKET

Unfortunately, it's only worth what someone's willing to pay. $1000 doesn't sound like a scammy offer on a 10 year vehicle that at least has one problem known with it, and possibly a relatively major engine problem. Private party Bluebook value on a fair condition 1999 base Windstar with 100k miles is only $1350 (3/2009).
