Question about 1993 Saturn SC1
The cooling fan does not come on when engine is hot, nor does it come on when the A/C is turned on (which, by the way, does not work either).
The 30 amp fuse is good. In the fuse box there are three relays, one for the fan, one for the A/C, and one for the horn. None of these three components work. I find it hard to believe that all three identical relays are bad. There is no sign of overheating (distortion or discoloration) on the relays or the box. This car was loaned to me by friends gone out of town. I drove to work (100 mile round trip at 5,000 ft down to 200 ft and back again) on a 107 degree day with the heater full blast on the way home and made it, but I thought it would be nice to fix it before I give it back. But I don't want to buy manuals and parts just to open a can of worms. I'm thinking maybe I'll just run a hot lead to the dash, install a toggle switch, and connect direct to the fan. Will this work? Or does someone have some ideas of how to find the root problem?
