Question about 1992 Subaru Legacy
I have a similar problem with a 95 Liberty GX. It specifically cuts out when I push past 3000rpm on a slight uphill gradient - its just sort of powers down slowly losing revs till it stops. Will restart fine after a minute or two, and yes the POWER light does flash when it restarts. Oddly, it is hard to get it to happen twice in succession - it usually behaves if I then push it past 3000rpm again on the same drive.
My mechanic hasn't been able to repeat the problem, and suggested it might some sort of muffler blockage, as the muffler is original and have loose baffles or something to that effect? Any suggestions welcomed, as the problem makes overtaking quite unsafe.
Sounds like either a catalytic converter starting to become blocked or at the other end it could be the fuel filter becoming pluged. A fuel filter will start to plug and a slow flow will starve the motor and cause it to die by not allowing the delivery of fuel to be consistant enough. Good luck and have a good day.
