SOURCE: 98 ford explorer eddie bauer 4.0 v6 clicks while idling.

I have a Ford Explorer & my car had the same clicking noise. It's the A/C. When the compressor kicks on it makes a clicking noise & will cause the lights to dim. You need to have the A/C checked. If it's clicking on every 4 seconds, that's too often. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: loss of oil/oil pressure and fluctuating oil pressure

could be that the screen in the oil pan where the oil is taken up is clogged. not certain--maybe oil change?

SOURCE: 97 explorer engine taps

what this sounds like is that your engine is starving for oil and the tapping noise is yuour rocker arms. this could be due to sludge build up on the intake screen of your oil pump or the pump itself is weak and no longer is providing the needed oil pressure. another place for sludge to build up is the valve covers and until the engine heats up very little oil is circulating to the push rod, rocker arms, and lifters. my suggestion is to clean the valve covers, drop the oil pan and remove the pump to look at the gears to see if there are missing teeth. also clean the screen of the pick up tube. replace the oil filter and put in new oil also use lucas additive this will do a good job of keeping the sludge build up to almost nill. if the problem persists then i would say that one or more of your hydraulic liftyers is weak and then they will need replacing.

Why does my oil gauge vibrate when at a stop after driving freeway speeds, 2002 ford Ranger?

Factory gauges (especially Fords) are not known for being terribly accurate or reliable. As long as the gauge is pointed in the "normal" range, I wouldn't be too concerned.
If you want to pursue it, remove the oil pressure sending unit and perform an oil pressure test with a mechanical gauge. If the mechanical gauge fluctuates the same way, suspect a worn or failing oil pump. If the gauge is stable, I would suspect a faulty oil pressure sending unit.
If the truck has high miles, consider moving up to higher viscosity oil or adding an oil stabilizer. If could just be that the oil is breaking down when it's hot and the engine can hold consistent pressure with the thinning oil.

Oil pump ford explorer

No that is not the pump that you smell. You need to have a test gauge hooked up to verify that you have good oil pressure, if it is ok then replace the sending unit for the oil pressure gauge.

Oil Pressure Problem

Suggest you find a garage/auto repair who will remove the oil pressure sending unit on the motor and insert a oil pressure gauge and read the pressure.
Sounds like you have either a bad sending unit or maybe a plugged up oil filter. You are changing your motor oil every several thousand miles, right?
Be blessed.

My engine makes a raddlen noise at start up and oil guage fluctuate

The noise is probably bearings and valves, you should have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport. After driving 15-20 minuets and coming to a stop the oil gauge fluctuates wildly. Sometimes the check engine light comes on. When I put the vehicle in park and give it a...

Sounds to me like it could be a bad oil sending unit or gauge. I would take it in to a shop and have them test the oil pressure with their equipment.
If they tell you the pressure is good try changing the oil sending unit first then if that don't work, replace the gauge.

I have had a small tapping noise in the engine for a while. yesterday a loud bang now its a very loud putting/banging noise. still runs but something very wrong. you can smell the odor of gasoline coming...

It sounds like you had either mild lifter lash or a plug wasn't gapped properly at first which has now gotten even worse. The gas smell that you have may be caused by a plug not firing due to misgap or a lifter that isn't functioning due to breakage. I recommend parking your vehicle as soon as possible. Have it towed to a dealer or trusted repair shop if at all possible. More use of the vehicle may cause irrepairable/ more costly damage.

98 ford explorer eddie bauer 4.0 v6 clicks while idling.

The first thing I would do is go to Autozone and have the engine codes read. All of the codes that have been triggered will still be stored in the computer. Is the AC on when you hear this clicking. I think it might just be the AC clutch making the noise. Try to narrow down the source of the noise, and it would not hurt to clean the battery cables. Test one thing at a time to avoid confusion. Let me know what you find out.
