2005 Lincoln LS 3.0 fuse and transmission problem. Do you have any idea what's wrong?

My 2005 Lincoln LS 3.0 blows the #6 fuse and when that happens, the car will go into 3rd gear and the only gear that it can be changed into is reverse. It's been in several garages and no mechanic has been able to find the problem.

Dear Vickie,
Here are a couple of ideas and solutions:
1) Any car problem that is "intermittent" is almost impossible to diagnose and fix.
Intermittent is "once in a while".
The mechanic would have to see it happen to get an idea what to fix. And then, if it were instantaneous, he still might not see it.
2) The mechanic must have a wiring chart to trace the course of the # 6 fuse.
With that, he might be able to run a whole new wire from the fuse box to the proper switch/solenoid.
The wire might have been damaged in a car wreck, but it is more likely that an electrical part has failed and is shorting out.

Experts should be found at a Ford dealer ( F, L, M.) or at at really expert transmission shop, at both places a person trained in transmissions is your only hope.
God bless your efforts.

Testimonial: "Dear David, It happens all the time. There haven't been any accidents, so it has to be an electrical part. The solenoid inside the transmission has been replaced, as well as the purge valve, to no avail. One of the mechanics was at a Ford dealership and is a certified F,L,M mechanic and even he couldn't diagnose the problem. Another is an expert transmission shop and yet another is an electronics specialist. We're at a loss. Thank you so much for your input. Take care."

Just a thought: If you have two electric fans one comes on when you turn the A/C on the other does not come on till the car reaches normal operating engine coolant water temperature.

I have a 2004 Lincoln LS 3.0. I recently had the AC compressor replaced. I would drive for about 100 miles then a fuse would blow. I took it back in to the dealer and they replaced the DCCV and various...

sounds like you have a wire rubbing against metal and blowing the fuse. look in owner's manual and see if the a/c fuse only powers the a/c compressor. if it does the bypass the wire with one ran from the compressor to the a/c fuse and drive vehicle to see if it blows again. if it has other things powered by the fuse then check all the wires for rubbed or broken areas.

2005 Lincoln LS a/c blowing out hot air. Stopped blowing out cold air from one second to another. Where at what number is the fuse for the AC?

there are many thing beside a fuse, it may be low on freon or a bad low preasure switch and more ,you are right to start withthe fuses, then have the freon checked to make sure there enough in the system, you may have a leak. the fuse is a 10 amp fuse and its located in the aux fuse box in location F1-O1, here a diagram to help you, this fuse box should be under the hood, sometimes they put them under the dash on the pass/side.hope this helps.
