Look under the car, towards the rear passenger door, along the side of the undercarriage. It will look like a can without a label. It will have one line going in and out of each end.

The fuel filter is usually located under the vehicle about the center to rear and mounted next to the external fuel pump under a cover. Follow the fuel lines from the tank to the front and you will find it.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1993 ford taurus gl

Hello,

The fuel filter of the 1993 ford taurus is located in front of the rear wheel well passenger side, about an inch in. There are two plastic tabs that hold the fuel lines to the filter. Just pop them out (don't use tools). You may need to push them through with something small like a screwdriver, just don't use the tool on the fuel line fittings and be careful with those lines with anything sharp.

To change it with a new one, please follow the instruction below carefully.
  1. Use a small flat screwdriver to remove the two plastic clips from the lines attached to the filter.
  2. Be careful! The lines may be under pressure, and fuel may spray out as you unplug the first line from the filter.
  3. Use a flat screwdriver, or 5/16 nut-driver to loosen the clamp from the body of the filter to remove old filter
  4. Mount the new filter into clamp & tighten (not too much - just snug). Be sure the 'flow' arrow is pointing towards the engine,
  5. Insert the new plastic line clips that are in the box with the filter into the lines and then plug the lines onto the filter until you hear them click in place.
Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

It sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Dirty fuel filter, lines, injectors? Faulty fuel pump? Sorry can't fix a car online but I hope this helps.

1993 VW Cabriolet Fuel pump or Injector problem?

Hi. This is more of a fuel filter issue than a pump issue although, a bad fuel filter will eventually destroy a fuel pump. When the filter is restricted or clogged, this will tend to work the pump harder than normal. this will over heat the pump, therefore, shortening its life span. I recommend replacing the fuel pump and filter and, adding a fuel additive like techtron fuel injector cleaner/water remover as well.

Please rate and have a great day:)
