Question about 2004 Chevrolet Aveo

1 Answer

Hi, I have epica 2006 automatic transmission, middle east version. The car has done so far 180,000 km. I have never changed the gear oil, simply because I do not know how and what to oil to use. The gear has started showing problems especially when shifting to R position. When I shift to R, the dash borad does not light red R and the car is kind of "jammed" into reverse driving. When I shift to D again, the gearbox kinda "knocks" and, I think, forth speed is engaged but , no matter how far or speedy I drive, it never automatically changes to fifth speed. I need advice please Thanks

Sounds like you need a tranny rebuild, I don't know of any easy fix here. Take it to several shops and get estimates.

How many miles can you can run with the oil transmission?

I couldn't find the manual for the 2005, the 2006 says the automatic transmission should be inspected every 24,000 km (15,000 mi) and changed every 60,000 km (37,500 mi).
The manual transmission should be inspected every 48,000 km (30,000 mi) and has no recommended change within 180,000 km (112,500 mi) where the maintenance schedule ends.

Here is the owners manual for the 2006, the maintenance schedule is section 6 almost the very end.

Engine oil reduces every 1000 km, what to do?

All VW product have plasma coated bores and for this reason will "use"oil.the workshop manual says "1 litre every 350 km is ACCEPTABLE".I have NEVER had a car THAT BAD,unless worn out.
check your oil every 500 miles MAX.and use 10/40 semi synthetic.(as per VW Europe/middle/far east manual.)change every 10k inc filter.

My 2006 mercedes e500 shifts hard from a cold start and gets better when warmed up, but still jerks a bit.

if your car over 65000 km done or after last trans service is it have been done over 65000 km from last trans service as a first thing do the trans service with trans mission flush, trans mission flush is very important, it must get done by right place who have the right flushing machine for Mercedes trans flushing, it's take 12 Ltr transmission oil + transmission oil filter+ oil pan gasket+ pilot bush, you must ask them to replace all those things this trans service is very important for Mercedes 5 speed automatic transmission, please get genuine Mercedes parts only don't use any aftermarket stuff for this particular transmission, and also need to check transmission control unit, the reason is if you do not trans mission service at right time pilot bush starting to oil leaking, that oil flow through wiring to transmission control unit and it's get wet by oil, if it's get wet by oil it's not functioning properly so can play transmission, other thing is if any thing dose not work for solve your problem you must get it to authorized Mercedes transmission technician to check it can be faulty oil pump or torque converter, I would like to note one more important thin regarding this matter, before do any thing please check transmission oil condition its could be mixed with water, if the oil like milky, it's water in oil, if it's like that you must replace the radiator and trans flush as I note above this is very important for your problem, is this information helped you?

I have 60K miles. When is recommended transmission fluid change?

It should be done between 30,000 to 60,000 miles. 30,000 miles if you do lots of stop and go traffic like in rush hour and up to 60,000 miles if your out on the highway most of the time. (less gear change) As long as you service your transmission on a regular schedule, it should last you the life of the car. $100.00 service every 3 years is a good investment since a transmission replacement is around $2,300. Hope this helps and good luck.
