Ok, there are two reasons that are going to cause your a/c clutch to not work, one is there is no power getting to your compressor, or there isn't enough refrigerant in the system. If there is no power at the compressor than follow it back to the relay and see if it has power with the switch on. If it has power than you most likely don't have enough refrigerant and I would have to say go get it diagnosed to make sure your not just going to be putting freon in to just lose it from a leak.

The compressornot coming on a2001 ford expedition

Hey Betty, I am assuming you mean a A/C compressor. Did you do the work or did you pay a Qualified Professional to do the work? ..
........A new compressor requires A/C oil ( the right amount of the right #) and a couple pounds of freon. before it will work..OR LAST very long..Do you have access to a vacuum pump and gauge set? You should have poured the compressor oil into the compressor right before you installed it. Once the system is connected and not leaking, it requires to have the air vacuumed out and freon put in... no freon will cause the compressor NOT to work,

2009 IMPALA A/C Compressor not working

It could be. There are also low and high pressure switches located in the refrigerant lines. If either switch is activated, it will prevent the compressor from activating. Also, the compressor clutch is always a suspect when compressors will not work.

Help 2008 ford fusion heater and ac stopped working

1) TEST the fuse+ relar of a/c
see the next steps and fix it. God bless you
If so, the compressor is working and the A/C system probably contains enough refrigerant to make cold air, so the problem is inside the HVAC unit. Replace the motor that controls the blend air door (this is a difficult job and best left to a professional since it involves tearing apart the HVAC unit -- about an 8 to 10 hour job!).
If the compressor does not engage when you turn on the A/C, see if it will run by jumping the compressor clutch wire directly to the battery (use a fused jumper wire). If the compressor works when you jump it, and the A/C blows cold air, the system contains refrigerant and the fault is likely a bad A/C compressor clutch relay or a bad clutch cycling switch or pressure switch.
If the compressor does not engage when you jump it, the problem is a bad compressor clutch.
If the clutch engages but the compressor does not turn (the belt will start to slip and squeal), the compressor is locked up and you need a new compressor.
If the compressor clutch engages and turns the compressor, but the A/C still does not blow cold air, the system is probably low on refrigerant and needs to be recharged

2004 Honda Pilot A/C stop working. No clicking sound or cold air

See if it's the compressor by watching the compressor either spinning ( compressor is working ) or not ( compressor not working ). Compressor will not engage if refrigerant is low. Add R-134a ( 12 oz. can )

hot wire the compressor to make sure if it is working or not. If all the fuses are working and the compressor is not running then your compressor is defective.

Air condition compressor stopped work suddenly

If the compressor is what failed a new one will need to be bought. They cannot be repaired. But you should look into other things like, relay, switch. wires. Stuff that runs to the the compressor and then out of the compressor and to different spots. This is just to make sure because the compressor is VERY expensive and you do not want to replace it if it is still good and it is just the relay or fuse or wire that is bad

No need to replace the compressor. That will solve nothing. The electrical wire connection to the compressor clutch can be replaced.

COMPRESSOR

Though I've never tried it, If a kit is available to replace the compressor with a pulley, I see no reason why it can't work.

If you go with it, let me know how it turns out...
