I would start with an engine oil flush and fill. If that doesn't help then you may need to replace the lifter that has lost its prime. This is usually caused from poor oil flow to the lifters. Hope this answered your question. Good luck.

I'm sure that it could be the timing chain but I have never actually herd one tick like that. You will need to pull the valve cover ether way so I would do a good inspection over the whole thing. In fact If I'm thinking correctly I think they put an inspection window in that engine for the timing chain and gears on the timing cover. Looks like a small rubber grommet about in the center.

What will be the problem if i have a taping noise when i start my car until it gets warm mitsubishi 380

A tapping noise that starts out cold and goes away when warm is usually caused by a valve lifter inside the engine. The lifter may be worn/leaking down and will be noisy until it fills with oil pressure. You can try an oil additive ( Lucas Oil Additive ) available at most part stores works very well with noisy lifters. Another noise that can happen cold and go away when warm is an exhaust manifold leak. However, this is normally a ticking type sound rather than a tapping sound.

Pound ticking noise when my 99 durango starts goes away after the engine warms up

The ticking noise could be a faulty hydrulic valve lifter. When last was the oil & filter changed, it coul be that the oil is thick and not going through to the lifters and when it warms up the oil is thin. It could be that the engine is need of an overhaul as 148.000 miles is 238.182 Kilometers and that is a hi milage.

Having a "clicking" sound coming from engine, or dull "thumping"

could be anything from belt noise to lifter tick to rod knock..lifter tick is under the valve covers..rod knock sounds like hitting the block with a hammer..if its rod knock see what your oil pressure is.. should be around 30 to 45 psi cold..warm will be as low as 15..depending on oil type..most lifters can be adjusted by removing the cover and doing adjusting depending on the vehicle..good luck

solid lifters? i could be wrong but i think they are hydraulic lifters. ive had quite a few of them not pump up when re-installing the valvetrain and cause a tick. pull off the valvetrain and check to see if all the lifters/tappets are firm with no squish. that might be your problem

Rapping/ticking sound in my 2001 Chevy tracker engine.

does it go tick tick tick tick and when it warms up it stops or goes quiet?
its your lifters not getting enough oil
when u change your oil it will stop till that oil gets worn out
you will have to replace the lifters or it can also be a slack oil pump not pumping oil around the engine like it should
