Hi Robert, I'd like to help you; what year make and model of the car are you having problems with? Perhaps you can give me more succinct details- I'm unsure what you mean by "the parking brake light went out".
Or do you mean, the light came ON!?
It's normal for the parking brake light to illuminate when you set the parking brake; and for it to turn off when the parking brake is released.
However, if the parking brake light stays illuminated after releasing the brake, the parking brake cable may need to be readjusted at the linkage, located underneath the car...or a simple adjustment to the parking brake pedal or hand level needs adjustment.
I would bring the car back to the mechanic who made the repair since it should be covered/warrantied
SOURCE: Brakes seem to drag after having parking brake assembly replaced ( was a recall)
If you had the recall done a while ago, and the park brake was not reinstalled properly, you would have already had a host of issues; such as vibration in the seats when braking, nasty odors coming from the back brakes, misc grinding noises...Any time the park brake is "on", the rear brake shoes are wearing against the drums. (The rear shoes are also the "park brake"...) This contact/wear creates heat, odor, and vibrations. Without looking at it, it is difficult for me to really help, but, try this: apply the park brake. Count the number of clicks it takes to be fully "on". Should be 5-7 clicks.Anything less? The park brake cables may indeed be too tight, or one of the shoes is mispositioned..

I can help with part of the problem!
I also have an 02 TB, and was having the same issue with the "rear" lights.
If you replace the brake light module that should do the trick.
SOURCE: have no brake lights i put in new brake light switch and nothing
your brake lights also run through the turn signal switch, if the shifter was on the column and you pulled the steering wheel off

hi from uk if as you say the brake fluid level is slightly above min ? then this is most probably the reason the warning light is on this light is also linked to both park brake when on and a visual warning via a sensor on the reservoir that brake fluid is low top reservoir up ? light should/will go off however! fluid level drops for two reasons = 1 fluid leak on b/system 2 or in your case the fluid level has dropped by displacement from reservoir to brake calipers/cylinders as the brake pads and/or shoes wear down to minimum safe thickness ? and if your car has brake pads wear indicators fitted to pads these sensors will put light on SO may i suggest you check your brake pads/shoes ASAP because if pads/shoes are very low ? you may not only damage the more expensive disc/rotors but pads may/will burn up resulting in brake failure with obvious results ? hope you heed this advice? it is for your safety and other drivers best wishes
