Question about Mazda Tribute
Can you smell anything different like antifreeze inside car? Check coolant level too & make sure it hasn't gone down.Could be a coolant leak but I would doubt it. Otherwise I'd bet that you have an exhaust leak which is why you can notice it more when you step on the gas. You should be able to spot it while the car is running and even hear it. Let me know what you find.

There is no smell involved with this, just an annoying noise that comes and goes. The fluid levels with both the brakes and coolant seem fine
This noise sounds similar to the noise a bicycle pump makes when inflating a tire, but is consistent, and comes and goes with the level of effort I put on the brakes. Sometimes it disappears altogether for a few miles. Can you respond to the possibility that a gromit may be the issue? I've been told this gromit looks similar to a condom and if perforated, will let some noise in.
I'll check out the exhaust possibility! Thanks
I'll give it a try!
