Petrol in a diesel engine is a recipe for disaster
fortunately petrol and diesel mix well so draining the tank will remove the contamination along with the diesel fuel
open bleed screws and bleed well ( 5 minutes or so to get the contamination out of the fuel lines)
change filter/s
refill with good diesel and bleed again right through to remove the rest of the contamination
if you have a ECM controlled engine , there may be codes that will come up so run them and then reset the ECM
run the engine again for say 5 minutes and then again read the fault codes and check any sensors that are still appearing in the codes

Drain the fuel out and flush the fuel lines and the filter. Failure to purge the unleaded fuel from the system can destroy the engine due to severe pre ignition.

3:1 gas/ diesel in 2011 kia what can I do to remove it?

This site may have all your answers:

Basically do NOT drive the car and have the gas tank drained or talk to a mechanic.

Accidentally putting diesel in a gas car If you know that you have accidentally put the wrong fuel in the car, then don't compound the mistake by driving the vehicle while trying to think about what to do. Instead, call your mechanic immediately. At this point, the damage isn't permanent. If you drive and continue to drive, at one point the vehicle will stop and you will still have to have it towed.

There are two things you can do to try to fix the damage:
1. Try to clean up the damage yourself - have the vehicle towed home if it's not there already, and get as much of the diesel fuel out. How? By siphon if you can or any other method that you have available. Once you have as much of the diesel out as you can, fill the tank with the correct unleaded fuel that you normally use. Try to start the vehicle. It could take several attempts but it will start and it will smoke - a lot. It will continue to smoke until the last dregs of the diesel make its way through the system. It might run a little rough until everything is cleaned out. How it runs will depend on the proportion of diesel fuel relative to gas left in the tank.

2. Alternatively, have your vehicle towed to where your mechanic is and have the fuel tank drained of all the diesel fuel by a profession. They are also likely to flush out the whole fuel system. If the diesel stays in there for too long (and who knows how long is too long for your particular vehicle), it could ruin the fuel pump, lines and injectors. It is also possible that the diesel could have gummed up the spark plugs and filters. If this is the case, they will probably need to be replaced. Getting a professional to do the job will cost you anywhere from $100 to $500 and possibly a little higher depending on the extent of the damage.

Car doesn't have power its finds difficult going up a hill. recently they put petrol instead of diesel drove for 1 km before stopping and removed the fuel, cleaned the tank and the car started nor

Try changing the fuel filter. If that does not help, have someone test the injector pump for pressure. Last would be a compression test on the cylinders. Drain oil and replace oil filter very soon.

What has happened is the diesel fuel is a lubricant and gasoline is a solvent. As gasoline is much thinner, it could wash down the cylinders and get into the oil pan thinning the oil and ruining the bearings. This would be the reason to test the pressure in the cylinders to find out if you lost compression with the rings in the cylinders.

Next, the injector pump for the diesel has seals and tolerances for inside components. Again, since gasoline is a solvent and not a lubricant, the internal parts could be worn out by not having diesel fuel to lubricate the injector pump parts.

If someone working at the fuel station made this mistake, all the costs should be paid by the station. This is something which could be taken to court if the station does not pay.

What will happen if i accidentally put unleaded petrol in my 2004 carrera 4s instead of super unleaded?

The least that could happen is absolutely nothing. On the other hand, you could start to hear "Pinging", IE, Pre-ignition, AKA Detonation. This is when the compression is so high that the fuel explodes before it reaches the top of the stroke. My advice? Drain the gas. On such an expensive car, no need to play dice.

Unleaded gas in a diesel fuel tank

do not worry about draining it, pour about 6 to 8 ounces of engine oil in it, and top it up with fresh fuel, it will be fine. The only way to drain the tank is to remove it and turn it over.

I went and put unleaded regular gas into my 2005 Volkswagen Jetta drove home and when I went to start car again, it will turn on for about 5-10 seconds and turns itself right back off!! PLEASE HELP!!

Are you sure you did not put diesel in by accident or E-85? The VW will run on regular gas(not recomended) but diesel or E-85 gas is Bad for it. The E-85 can clog up stuff. You will need to drain and flush the fuel system, a new pump might help and all filters as well. Sounds like you got E-85 or Diesel by mistake. If this is helpful, please leave feedback. Thanks, SP

I have accidentally refuelled a diesel Volvo V50 R design with unleaded any idea where the fuel sump is so I can drain Cheers

You have to drain the fuel tank and disconnect fuel lines and blow out with compressed air. The fuel pump is in the tank take it out and spray down with WD-40. If you run the car with unlead gas it will damage the motor.

Draining fuel tank

My son in law had exactly the same problem, he called out his roadside assistance, what the did was to take him to a garage, they used a small pump with a pipe to get down into his fuel tank thro' the filler, pumped it all out and refilled with diesel, they may also have changed his fuel filter, no problem. jonbangor
