Once you have the plastic dash pieces off which surround the switch, put the key in, turn it to the "on" position, find the the spring loaded button on the outside of the switch, push it in, and pull it out with the key.

Easiest way to check timing belt

If you simply want to check the timing belt condition, then remove the plastic cover and visually inspect it. If you have the 5 sfe engine, the timing belt cover is a 2 piece assembly, upper and lower. if you have the 7 afe or 4 afe engine the timing cover is 3 pieces and to inspect the top of the timing belt you must remove the 4 nuts holding the valve cover down and the 2 bolts holding the wire loom. remove the whole valve cover. to inspect timing belt condition.

Wheel is not in locked position, have tried 2 keys and cannot turn to on position . i have taken off all plastic and can not get key cylinder out in this position .

There is a "somewhat" common issue with the ignition lock cylinders on these vehicles... as a matter of fact... there is a "special policy" to cover ignition lock cylinder replacement on most vehicles. At this point... the only "tip" that I can think of to try would be to lightly tap on the head of the key while trying to rotate it at the same time. in some cases this has worked for me... but once the key turns... usually it can not be rotated back to the "off" position due to the springs inside the cylinder case are "out of position".

I suggest that you have the vehicle taken to the nearest dealership, after calling and making sure the lock cylinder repair will be covered under warranty, and have them repair it.

Keep in mind that this isnt a THEFT sisyem fault, the theft system will only disable the starting/operation of the engine, not the ignition switch.

Hope this helps.

Where do you add the antifreeze on a 1996 toyota camery 6 cyl LE ?

If the engine is cold the pressure cap should be near the passenger side of the intake. Remove the cap, looks like a radiator cap, and add antifreeze till its full. Then fill the plastic jug that is marked engine coolant.

How do i change a timing belt on a 1990 toyota celica

This is a 5 on the 1-10 scale. You will have to remove: The serpentine belt, and all pullies on that side of the engine. Then remove the retaining nuts all the way around the timing belt cover. Once you have it off, you will have to remove tension on the belt using the tensioners (2) inside the belts travel. I do not know if you have a single cam or twin, but the proceedure is basically the same. Once the tension is off, you can replace the belt, and reverse the order of steps. I recommend a good sealant be applied to the cover where it meets the block, and a good thread-lock (locktite.) Be sure to align the belt the same as the one taken out and NEVER MOVE THE CAMS!!! IF you do you have to retime the engine from the gear points.

I want to replace ignition lock cylinder on my 1998 Toyota 4Runner do I need special tools to do it? or what are the steps to do it? thanks.

You have to remove the plastic cover underneath of the steering wheel, after that the metal shield behind the plastic cover. When you remove the shield you will get access to the ignition lock cylinder. Disconnect the wire harness, remove the cylinder, install a new cylinder. Connect the wire harness, install the shield, install the plastic cover.

PS: Before start write down the code for your stereo (if you have one), disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Be careful when you work around the air bags.
