2006 Toyota Land Cruiser - Thud when coming to or leaving stop

There is a noticeable thud noise when either coming to a complete stop or if not then, when accelerating from complete stop. I had the drife shaft pulled and lubricated and it helped, but it is still noticeable. I've heard this is common in 4-Runners but not LC's. I'm not sure if this is related, but the automatic transmission seems not to be as smooth as it should be when shifting between low gears/speeds. I bought this 2006 LC 2-months ago with 70k miles from dealer...1 previous owner.

Hi, I have the same case here as it sound while you accelarate from low to high speed or release the accelator immediately to reduce the speed it gives thud sound specially in cold start. I had checked with Agency and they said it is normal in LC and I was not satisfied with the answer, so I had taken a second openion with another best workshop in th country ( I am in Gulf Region Dubai ) and got the same answer, then I had discussion with other people also and got the same answer, but I still dont believe as a performance car should not give any sound and I have good technical knowledge in cars so I check very carefully by lifting the car and simulating the scenario and my observation is that there is no issue with the gearbox basically it is a jolt from 4wheel case whcih is attached to side of the gearbox and shafts are connected to it.

I am sure that some thing is wrong in it and need to be replaced and this is diagnosed last week only and I am looking for a transmission expert to resolve the issue hopefully it will be a bearing or synchronizer which is causing a slip and producing thud sound

please check the same with your car you might find the same and it is very common in this region.

Most likely coming from motor mounts or transmission mounts. You should have these checked right away to avoid and consequential damage.

Either brakes stick or trans is not down shifting when i come to a stop there is a noise and thud when i release the brakes and push the accelerater it seems to shift fine while driving

COMPLETELY SAFE: put up on lift or raise off ground with stands with enough room to get under then have someone do the gear shifting going to speed that causes the thud ,let driver(person in car)tell you when brakes are applied so you're ready then see where noise comes from;could be transmission?????

2006 Chevy Trailblazer makes THUD when accelerating

Check your coolant level, low coolant or air in your cooling system will make a "thud"noise in your heater core when the engine is under load from acceleration. The coolant rushes in to the heater core where the air pocket is trapped and then your hear the noise.
Start with the simple and make sure your coolant level is correct and then try to purge the system to remove the air out for your coolant system.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

you probably need to isolate thi noise better. does it occur going over bumps in the road,or only when braking. maybeput the vehicle in a lower gear and see if it occurs when jabing the gas pedal up and down. if only when braking lock at the parking brake to see if it is stuck on.but feeling like the brake is releasing and reapplying semms to indicate something is rolling around.. coul be a hard one.

Sounds like bad CV (constant velocity) joints in the front half shafts.

They make the most noise at a full wheel cut.
