I have the same vehicle since it was new. It is power switch for sporty driving or driving up long slopes. According to the manual and experience, you can obtain powerful acceleration in passing or climbing.

Try to obtain an owners manual. It is on page 2-7.

Nissan 300zx transmission replacement

No, that is not true, you can only use one from another 300ZX, 1990-91 for a manual transmission, 1990-93 for an automatic. Also you have to get the one for if you have twin turbo, or one if you don't.

Brake lights stay on

There should be a blue plastic piece, shaped like a button. It sits in a hole at the top of the brake pedal directly in front of the switch. When the brake is off, this little plastic button pushes the switch to turn off the lights.

What makes wipers intermitent i have a 91 nissan pickup

Not really. You can, however purchase an after-market delay to install. They're only about 20 bucks, and a piece of cake to install. Check at your local auto-parts store.

Ect power?

The ECT button stand for Electronically Controlled Transmission. In short, what the button does is change the upshift points for the auto trans. Normally, the 1-2 upshift is at 15-19 mph, pressing the button changes the shift mph form 15-19 to 19-22/23. More often than not, this feature wiooould be used if you are hauling a heay load, and the ECT gets you up to speed faster, via the longer time as mentioned above re the shift mphs. Not very useful with normal driving, it really does not do much without a heavy load.
