Remove the number one spark plug, bring engine to top dead center on the number one cylinder, now check to see if the rotor(under the distributer cap) is pointing close to #1 plug wire, If it is turn Distrubtor to line up rotor and number one plug wire on distributor cap, if it is off 180 degrees roll engine over to piston reachestop dead center again and go from there, this should let you get it running, then you will have to fine tune it with a timing light.

My ford f150 is getting fire and gas but wont start i replaced the module, pickup in the dist.,cap, button, new plugs fuelpump, filter any ideas

check to see it the timing chain broke or jumped, have checked to see if you were getting spark and fuel in the begining.if you had these before then you replaced some things without needing them, unless its been a while since a tune-up was done.to check the timing chain turn the engine over until the timing marks are aligned.the pointer across from the 0 mark on the timing cover.then pull the distributor cap noting were #1 plug terminal is and the rotor should be pointing at that spot.if the timing chain broke it will sound like there is no compression.

86 econoline 150, OIL guage ( L or H), should run in the middle (normal), after driving awhile it remains below the L, and my EMISSIONS light is constantly lit up??? And been stalling, just had the fuel...

On the oil pressure issue, test with an external gauge to see if you have correct pressure when the engine is warm. On the emission light issue, pull the error codes, and investigate from those indications..... The stalling is a great clue that something is not right. REMEMBER error codes are a clue, NOT always the cause.

'87 ford van w/302 just died,no spark,replaced ign.mod. &ign.coil.still no spark.

mark the distributor and pull it out, turn the key on.with module wires connected, ground the dist. body and spin the gear, with the cap off, you should hear a light spark or tick in the distribtor, if not the pickup in the dist. is bad. a rebuilt distributor is probably cheaper than the pickup alone.

I have a 86 Mercury Marquis that I am working on helping someone out and I would like to know how the ignition module is changed.......it won't start.....i have replaced battery, ignition coil, cap and...

if the module is on the side of the distributer it takes a wrench made just for ford modules to remove 2 screws, if you need to replace the pickup in the dist. you have to remove the dist. out of the engine pull the gear off and pull the shaft out of the dist.

1998 ford econoline transmission problem

This will sound odd, but if the fuel filter hasn't been changed in a long time replace it and check that air filter isn't clogged up. If this isn't causing it you can try changing the fluid if it's been neglected and add TransX.
