Cookieeye, are you kidding? There's no way you could possibly know if the problem is the torque converter clutch without more information. The symptom described could be almost anything. We need more information.
Watsontm, it's easy to read the trouble codes with nothing more than a paper clip. The chilton manual (about $15) can tell you how to do this. If you can't spring that, go to autozone and ask them to read the codes for you. They should do it for free.

1993 Buick LeSabre surges and almost dies intermittently

Check fuel rail pressure.

Add fuel to beyond 1/2 tank.

A weak fuel pump do not like to ran low on gas.

When was the last gas filter and fuel pump change?

90-120,000 miles is the typical change out.

Fuel pump like to quit on a HOT day.

Test the pressure and see is it within specification.

Good luck

Slow acceleration, high rpm

This sounds normal to me! The engine will read that rpm when accerlerating lightly. It is the stall of the torque convertor. The oil pressure will always be higher when the rpm's are higher, or when the oil is thicker - cold.

Virbration? That is a different story. Oil won't cause that.

Unpredictable car shutdowns

I don't know if that year has the standarized diagnostic connector; check with an auto parts store, they can tell you.
Code readers there however, are high priced, check on eBay or if you have a Harbor Freight store in your area, see if they have any of these on sale; I paid ony $30 for mine there and it does all vehicles through the newest.

I think though, that you have the sequence wrong; the power steering and power brakes are dependent on a running engine; the steering needs its pump turned and the brakes use engine vacuum for boost.
I think the engine is just dieing, the other things are only symptoms of that.

You will need some kind of diagnosis on this one unless there is a series problem that one of us recognizes.
The randomness of the failure is confusing but I think it is electrical in nature.
